Whereas: Student Senate is elected by the Student Body to represent and voice the opinions of students; and

Whereas: Student Senate is a means by which student concerns are addressed; and

Whereas: Medical Service Organization (MSO) is hosting a bone marrow donor registry in conjunction with Scott and White Healthcare; and

Whereas: All Students will be able to register as a bone marrow donor from November 10th to November 21st from 10 am to 4 pm each day. The registries will occur in the lobbies of the Sub and the business school; and

Whereas: In the past, bone marrow donor registries hosted at Baylor have not been successful. This year MSO is hoping to increase the number of donors; and

Whereas: In order to increase awareness of this registry, MSO has teamed up with other organizations to promote this event; and

Whereas: These organizations include AMSA, APO, Delta Psi Epsilon, Lambda, AED, ISSA, and Kappa Phi Gamma; and

Whereas: Along with flyers, posters, and a chamber banner, MSO and these other organizations plan on buying shirts for their collective 800 members as advertisement. They hope to create a buzz by having all members wear these shirts on the same day; and

Whereas: There are more patients needing bone marrow transplants than there are donors. The registry provides an avenue for students to become aware of a crucial medical issue; and

Whereas: The budget for the event is as follows:

Therefore: Be it resolved by the 56th Legislative Session of the Baylor University Student Senate assembled that $1009.96 be allocated from the Student Government Allocation Fund (SGAF) to MSO for the purpose of posters, one chamber banner, and food for Scott & White employees.

Furthermore: Unused money from the SGAF will be returned to the SGAF in an expedient manner.

Furthermore: MSO will meet with the attorney general within seven business days after the bone marrow registry has ended.
