Austin Stewart Ferrell, of Buies Creek, was a 2011 graduate of Harnett Central High School. Austin died November 10, 2013, in an automobile accident on Neills Creek Rd. and will always be remembered for his positive attitude, compassion, generosity and love for life. He had a unique ability to connect with people of all ages. He never met a stranger. His smile, so full of love, his heart, always full of care for the people around is how we all remember him. Austin would always have a joke or funny story to tell whenever you saw him and we loved his positive fun-loving attitude. He would make little loud noises when you least expect it that would somehow scare you and his laugh was contagious. He is missed by so many. Austin was an example to everyone he met of how to live life. His memory will live on in our heart forever.

GUIDELINES
NOTE: Be sure to read guidelines and application carefully and include all necessary attachments and forms. The forms must be typed. Scholarships may be used for tuition, books and fees. Scholarship funds will be available after June1, 2018once the scholarship has been awarded. Expenses incurred prior to the award date will not be reimbursed.
AUSTIN STEWART FERRELL MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP FUND awards a scholarship annually in the amount of $500.00. Scholarships are awarded on the basis of financial need, initiative andacademic achievement.
To qualify, the scholarship applicant must:
A.Be a citizen of the United States.
B.Be a graduating Harnett Central High School Student
C.Submit a completed application with the following attachments:
1.Photograph (Optional)
2.One-page biographical sketch on “How This Scholarship Will Help Me Meet My Goals and Further My Education.”
3.Most current official high school transcript which he/she is currently enrolled, to include grade-point average, standing in class, scholastic aptitude test scores and other pertinent information.
4.One (1) letter of recommendation as outlined below:
a)One (1) letter of recommendation from high school counselor or teacher which should describe that student’s activities and leadership record in school, personal traits, character, initiative, home background and student’s financial need.
