NEW BOARD MEMBERS

Firs I would like to thank Ron Gustafson and Dave Hoska for each serving 2 terms on your board of directors. These guys worked hard to help make our events go as smooth as possible as well as their input at our board meetings. Your 2 new board members are Jim Heiland and Mike Gaspard. Jim has a yellow 57 Chev # 79 and Mike has a red modified # 3. These are really great guys with good ideas for the club and the desire to make things happen. I hope you will help and support them any way you can.

ACTION TAKEN

Due to the unacceptable behavior by one of our members at last years Hastings event your board took immediate action on the issue. This person verbally abused our helpers in the sign in shack, as well as another volunteer that helps in the pit area. All our help is volunteer and they sure don't deserve that kind of treatment. This persons membership has been revoked permanently. Neither he, his family or his racecar will be allowed at our Hastings event, as well as any other club event. We will not allow behavior like this at any of our events in the future. End of subject!! !

Congratulations Buzz and keep selling your great books on early sprint car racing in the U.S. If you haven't seen or purchased any of his books you are really missing out. The stories are great and the photos, which many have never been reproduced, will definitely take you back in time.

6TH ANNUAL HASTINGS EVENT

Again this year we will be putting on our show at Little Log House Speedway. One change for this year is that we will be starting our main events at 5:00pm on Friday and Saturday night, rather then the afternoons. Sunday we will have a early afternoon test and tune for those of you who wish to stick around. And of course Powder Puff action on Saturday night. Every year this event keeps getting bigger so I guess we will just have to wait and see what new attractions besides more grandstands Steve has in store for the fans.

THE LAST LAP

I am sorry to report that since our last newsletter 4 more of our fraternity have moved on to the big racetrack in the sky. They are Irene Collins from Lemars, IA, Patty Bozony from Fridley, MN, Carl Souvie from Owatonna, MN, and John Yonke from Alma, KS. I am sure we all have fond memories of the time we have spent with each of them at our events. They will be missed. God Bless.

RACEWAY PARK SHAKOPEE. MN.

50th REUNION WITH THE LEGENDS July 7,8,9 2006

This is Raceway Parks 50th Anniversary celebration. Raceway Park is Minnesota's first paved racetrack, and we were asked to be a part of this milestone event.

The weekend kicks off with a party at Turtles Bar & Grill in Shakopee on Friday night The folks at Turtles is providing a live band and is also working with Raceway on a mailing for this event. Saturday will be open track for all classes from 9:00 am to 3:00 PM. Pit services will be available for tire changing and racing gas will be for sale. There will be no meth. alcohol for sale so bring your own. Saturday will also feature a FREE grandstand with concessions open to the public. The club will man the pit gate with driver and one crew member per car admitted FREE. This will be recorded. Anyone else that wishes to be admitted to the pit will pay a one day pit pass of $ 10.00. Depending on what type of car is on the track will decide the number of cars we let out in a group. We are hoping to have 50 + cars for this event. Through out the day we expect that all cars will be displayed behind the grandstand at one time or another. The pit gate will close at 4:00 sharp. All cars that are not on display behind the grandstand are required to leave the pits until Sunday. There will be a designated area out side the pit gate for trailers and campers that wish to camp out.

On Sunday the pit gate opens at 12:00 noon. Raceway personnel and our club will man the pit gate. Test and tune will be from 12:00 to 2:00. PERIOD. No exceptions. Also on Sunday all cars participating MUST HAVE CLUTCHES AND STARTERS! This track is not set up for cars equipped with in-out boxes. Grandstand opens at 3 :00 sharp. The afternoon will consist of videos, photo sessions, interviews, and a great reunion. We will also be a part of the national anthem parade lap. Cars chosen for this will be promoters choice. Based on time available, and weather providing, we will have 2 exhibition races through out the evening. This is why Raceway has elected to go with clutch and starter cars only on Sunday. I am very excited to have our club be a part of this event and am looking forward to seeing many of the guys I ran with way back when. Hope to see you there, Skip.

A GREAT IDEA

Member John Timmerman from New Richmond Wiscons~ first decided that he was going to sell his 1974 chevelle stockcar, and wanted it advertised in the newsletter. CHANGE! NEW PLAN! John has decided to convert it to a 2 seater, bring it to events and give rides. What a great idea. And what a way to promote our hobby. Thanks John for letting us be a part of your enjoyment and enthusiasm and sharing the fun we have.
