The South Page Community School District

February 9, 2015

The Board of Directors of the South Page Community School District met in regular session on February9, 2015 at

7:00 p.m. in the school library at 606 Iowa Avenue, College Springs, Iowa 51637.

CALL TO ORDER – ROLL CALL

President Ron Peterman called the meeting to order at 7 p.m. Roll call: Ron Peterman, Chris Drennen, Jacque Autry, Kenny Jackson, and Darin McClarnon. Also present were Superintendent Gregg Cruickshank, Principal Denise Green, and guests.

AGENDA

C. Drennen made a motion to approve the agenda. D. McClarnon second. Motion carried 5-0.

CONSENT AGENDA

J. Autry made a motion to approve the consent agenda to include previous minutes, the financial accounts, and payments of bills. K. Jackson second. Motion carried 4-0.

REPORTS

Principal

·  The South Page FFA hosted the FFA sub-district competition February 5.

·  South Page will host Conference Individual Speech Contest February 25.

·  There will be a STEM meeting in February.

·  The Corner Conference Principals are going to invite schools from other conferences to have a discussion about conference membership.

·  Staff, students, and parents will take the Clarity technology survey.

·  Parents can sign their children up for Driver Education during Parent-Teacher Conferences. Sidney and South Page will co-op the program.

Superintendent

·  Information was shared on legislative proposals for supplemental state aid and the school start date.

·  Property tax valuation for 2015/16 is $95,774,564. This compares to $92,634,090 for 2014/15.

Maintenance/transportation

·  No report

DISCUSSION

·  Health insurance carrier - with the pending insolvency of Cooportunity Health Insurance, information and options were discussed. The Board instructed the administration and business manager to work with Benefit Professional to switch to the Coventry Bronze Essential plan effective no later than March 1.

DISCUSSION/ACTION

·  Van fleet - Transportation Director Phil Greever shared mileage information regarding the van fleet. In the near future a van will need to be purchased for Special Education routes. Mr. Greever will share more information at a future meeting and make a recommendation for purchase of a van.

·  Zach Peterman – 1000 career points

K. Jackson made a motion to adjourn. D. McClarnon second. Motion carried 5-0. Adjournment was at 7:27 p.m.

STRATEGY SESSION

A strategy session was held after adjournment to discuss negotiations with the South Page Education Association. The meeting was exempt from Iowa Open Meetings Law.
