International conferences on bacterial plant pathogens

Two international conferences on plant pathogenic bacteria will be held over consecutive weeks in the UK during July 2006:

The 11th International Conference on Plant Pathogenic Bacteria

The Bacteriology Committee of the International Society for Plant Pathology are organising the 11th International Conference on Plant Pathogenic Bacteria (ICPPB2006) to be held over 5 days in July 10-14th 2006 in Edinburgh, UK.

The conference will encompass all aspects of phytobacteriology and will cover recent advances in genome sequencing, genomics and proteomics, genetic regulation and expression of pathogenicity and virulence and developments in taxonomy and bacterial nomenclature. Also addressed will be new detection technologies, new disease occurrences, disease epidemiology and pathogen dynamics, and prospects for control. Presentations on classical bacterial pathogens, endophytic bacteria, plant growth-promoting/deleterious bacteria, and phytoplasmas are expected. Scientists working on any aspect of plant/bacteria interactions are invited to participate.

The 4th International Bacterial Wilt Symposium (IBWS2006)

The 4th International Bacterial Wilt Symposium will be held over 5 days in July 17th-21st 2006 in York, UK. This symposium is dedicated to the presentation and discussion of research on Ralstonia solanacearum and the bacterial wilt diseases it causes. This meeting will characteristically unite both fundamental and applied researchers from all over the world to stimulate professional exchange and collaboration on all aspects of this destructive pathogen. Papers and posters will be invited covering the full genetic diversity and wide host range of the pathogen complex with sessions dedicated to molecular genetics, host-pathogen interactions, taxonomy, diagnostics, epidemiology and control.
