MEETING

SEPTEMBER 13, 2016

MINUTES

The regular meeting of the Douglasville-Douglas County Water and Sewer Authority was held September 13, 2016 at 5:30 p.m., in the Community Room of the WSA Administration Building.

Members present:

The first item of business was the adoption of the minutes of the August 23, 2016 regular meeting. A motion was made by Mr. Noles and seconded by Mr. Citizen to adopt the minutes as presented. There were no corrections or additions and the minutes were approved unanimously.

OLD BUSINESS

There was none.

STATUS REPORT

There was nothing to add to the written report.

At this time, Chairman Boatright introduced the following resolutions:

A RESOLUTION OF THE DOUGLASVILLE-DOUGLAS COUNTY WATER AND SEWER AUTHORITY AWARDING THE BID FOR THE HIGHWAY 92 TANK REHABILITATION PROJECT TO UTILITY SERVICE CO., INC. IN THE AMOUTN OF $234,000.00.

A motion was made by Ms. Rigdon and seconded by Mr. Smith to adopt the resolution as presented. There was no discussion, and the motion was passed unanimously.

A RESOLUTION OF THE DOUGLASVILLE-DOUGLAS COUNTY WATER AND SEWER AUTHORITY AUTHORIZING THE FINAL ADOPTION OF THE DOUGLAS COUNTY 2015 MULTI-JURISDICTIONAL HAZARD MITIGATION PLAN.

A motion was made by Mr. Smith and seconded by Mr. Citizen to adopt the resolution as presented. There was no discussion, and the motion was passed unanimously.

NEW BUSINESS

Mr. Shearouse reported that Georgia EPD officially declared a Level 1 Drought Response on September 9, which calls for utilities in 53 counties to mount a public information campaign to remind their customers about the importance of using water safely. An article regarding this was in the Douglas County Sentinel last week and WSA will place information on its website and in customer bills that go out this month. Discussion followed.

PUBLIC COMMENT

Tommy and Marlene Bruce, 5903 Tonya Lane, Douglasville, told about a stormwater problem they are experiencing which they say causes water from Highway 5 to flood their basement.

There was no further business before the board, so Chairman Boatright called the meeting to an end. There was no objection and the meeting was adjourned.
