Picture Bride
TIMELINE ASSIGNMENT
Objective: To create a three-part Timeline for the novel Picture Bride in order to see the
connections between actual history and this fictional novel set in historical times.
Procedure: Research historical information based on the groups of years noted below and
review key events from the novel during those same time periods.
Materials: Picture Bride novel, encyclopedias, atlases, dictionaries, computer, and other
reference and nonfiction books, coloring materials, paper.
Requirements:
- A total of 3 timeline sheets

2. Each caption for each historical or fictional event must be typed.
- Each illustration must be in color.
- Use a 8.5” X 14” paper for EACH timeline, or put a few 8.5” X 11” papers together to make papers in the size of 8.5” X 14” .
- For the historical events, be specific with the date (month and day) and a brief caption explaining the significant event.
- Historical events can be national information (about the US) or international information (something that happened elsewhere in the world).
- Neatly place all events for the novel and history in chronological order in each timeline.
