The Alliance’ssexual assault victim advocates and coalition of nine community based sexual assault crisis programs support survivors of all ages throughout our state with trauma informed and victim centered services, free of charge. Each program provides 24/7 hotlines, short term crisis counseling and support groups, accompaniment to hospitals, courts and police stations. Advocateshelp survivors understand their options and navigate complex medical and criminal justice systems so survivors can make decisions that work best for them. Last fiscal year alone, The Alliance and our member programs provided services to over 6300child, adolescent and adult victims of sexual assault and their loved ones.
The Allianceis a leader in providing training to professionals and first responders to improve the response to and prevention of sexual assault in communities throughout the state. Each year we reach over 50,000 Connecticut residents with programs to prevent sexual violence by creating awareness and challenging the behaviors and attitudes that perpetuate sexual violence. The Alliance is a well-knowndriver of policies that promote compassionate responses to sexual assault victims and offender accountability. Ourpublic policy efforts have successfully led to the passage of laws to prevent sexual violence on college campuses, ensure K-12 sexual assault prevention education programs in all of CT’s schools, criminalize acts of stalking, as well as the identification and testing of over 800 untested sexual assault evidence collection kits.
