POST TITLE:SPORTS ACTIVATOR/COORDINATOR

LINE MANAGER:HEAD OF PHYSICAL EDUCATION

FULL/PART TIME:FULL TIME 37 HOURS PER WEEK TERM TIME ONLY

PERMANENT/TEMPORARY:Initially for one year but may be extended

(subject to confirmation of Sport England funding)

SALARY:£21,850 - £23,949(pro rata) – depending on qualifications and experience

MAIN FUNCTION:

Funded by Hereford Sixth Form College, the Sports Activator post will enhance and improve the planning, development and provision of sport across the college and increase the amount of students participating in sport and physical activity. This one-year post will be extended subject to confirmation of Sport England activation funding.

KEY DUTIES:

  1. Improve and enhance sport enrichment programmes for students across the College.
  2. Facilitate coaching and delivery of sports sessions and activities, ensuring availability of facility time, adherence to health and safety regulations and completion of data collection.
  3. Support, develop and deploy sports leaders, volunteers and officials, through existing programmes such as sports makers.
  4. Act as main link to National Governing Bodies, County Sports Partnershipand British College Sports Network.
  5. Access and coordinate the implementation of programme opportunities available through Sport England’s Strategy & NGB participation programmes/offers, focusing on increased participation and sustainability.
  6. Create & maintain effective and active links with sports clubs in the community and connect to existing opportunities in the local area.
  7. Gather relevant intelligence to understand the sports needs of students.
  8. Work with schools to ensure transition into College sport is enhanced and to identify successful interventions and programmes, as well as sports volunteers moving into FE.
  9. Link to the NGB and School Games model to access informal intra-competition programmes.
  10. Consider sport and physical activity within College corporate plan/strategy.
  11. Work with other Sports Activators and Sports Makers to develop inter-college partnership working and share good practice.
  12. To identify possible funding opportunities within the college and through local partners for sustainability in the long term running of the programme
  13. To promote the benefits and successes of the Colleges work
  14. To monitor and evaluate the college’s progress in relation to the national targets for participation, the college sports development plan and contribute to the overall national monitoring and evaluation process.
