CLASS TITLE:UNIT TREATMENT AND REHABILITATION DIRECTOR - SES

ALLOCATION FACTOR(S)

This is managerial work developing, implementing and directing the total residential care and treatment activities within a specialized treatment and rehabilitation unit of a mental health facility. The employee(s) in position(s) allocated to this class exercise independent judgment in formulating or assisting in the formulation of policies and procedures which have significant impact in personnel administration and/or preparation and administration of budgets.

  • Reviews and evaluates the unit treatment and rehabilitation programs and plans in relationship to changing needs and overall objectives.
  • Supervises the social, educational, vocational, recreational, and other rehabilitation program activities.
  • Consults on and coordinates the provision of medical, psychiatric, and psychological services.
  • Supervises and/or participates in the unit treatment and rehabilitation team activities.
  • Makes administrative decisions on program policy and interprets goals.
  • Conducts individual and group therapy sessions.
  • Establishes diagnostic, disposition, and follow-up procedures.
  • Participates in training and research activities by testing new treatment and rehabilitation techniques, which lends itself to practical staff training.
  • Serves as liaison with local community mental health facilities and district boards regarding inpatient and outpatient programs.
  • Performs related work as required.
