Information Pack
Grow is Hull Truck Theatre’s (HTT) Artist Development Programme for the development of artists of all ages and at all stages of their careers.
The programme consists of:
- Professional Development workshops both creative and organisational
- Be Our Guest, residencies for the development of new work
- First Time Out, platforms for presenting work for the first time
- Annual Grow Festival
- Showcases; programmed work in the studio theatre
- Supported Artists
Be Our Guest residencies
As part of Grow, our Artist Development Programme we offer residencies which can be applied for by individual artists or companies. The residencies exist to provide artists with the space and support to develop a new piece of work. Artists and companies at any stage in their careers are eligible to apply providing that they are able to articulate how and why their work resonates with Hull and Hull Truck Theatre’s mission and values.
HTT will provide:
- one week’s rehearsal space for research and development purposes
- A dedicated mentor from the HTT Grow team
- A pre residency planning meeting to help assess your development needs
- Meetings and conversations with relevant staff
- Accommodation for up to 7 people

First Time Out, platforms
These give an opportunity for artists to share work as it develops. It could be anything from a rehearsed reading, a scratch performance or preview. They are programmed as part of our Grow Festival and can include discussions and feedback with audiences and Hull Truck Theatre staff. We will work with you to determine the most appropriate ways for you to gather feedback.
First Time Out date:
The next First Time Out will take place in the Studio on Friday 2 February 2018, and again during the week of 7 May 2018 at Grow Festival. If you would like to apply to take partplease complete this formand return it Friday 5 January.

Supported Artists and Companies:
Hull Truck Theatre also operates a system of bespoke support to artists and companies via invitation. These artists and companies are not eligible to apply for residencies.
