Tolland County 4-H STEAM events:

STEAM: stands for Science Technology Engineering Art and Math.

What will we be doing?

Art, Math and Technology: Cutting patterns and sewing

Hand sewing mittens or socks for gifts.

Learning about sewing machines and how they work.

Saturday January 6, 2018; 10am – 11:45 am

What will we be doing?

Art, Math and Technology: Recycling an empty feed bag: sewing

Bring an empty feedbag.

Using sewing machines and hand sewing turn the feedbag into a tote bag

Friday February 2, 2018; 6pm -7:45pm

What will we be doing?

Engineering and Technology:Wired for wind

Design and build two types of wind turbines:

1 with a vertical axis and 1 with a horizontal axis

Test them to determine which design is more effective in turning wind into energy

Art, Math and Technology: Designing and sewing apron

Design an apron from dishtowels

Hand and machine sewing

Our projects involve science and creativity and can be entered in the 2018 Tolland County 4-H Fair.

If a parent or guardian will not be on the premises during the TC 4-H STEAM program the youth participant must submit a 4-H member/volunteer health form with their registration.

If another adult is chaperoning, they must keep the health forms with them for each youth in their possession and remain on the premises. The Health Form must be signed by a parent or guardian.
