Dear Orchestra Director:

The 28th annual Parade of Orchestras will take place on April 14th and 15th atthePearl City Cultural Center. The festival will begin on Friday morning at 8:00 (This is Good Friday, a school holiday) and continue on Saturday. Please indicate on the application your preference of date(s) that you would like to have your orchestra(s) participate. The exact time of performance for participants will be determined after all applications are received. Orchestras will be categorized by their year-in-school grade level (i.e. Elementary, Middle School and High School). The application for the festival is attached. Please make additional copies, if needed, as there should be one application for each group entering. Rules and regulations are also attached. If there are special requests, please indicate them legibly on your application and every effort will be made to accommodate them.

The adjudicators for this year’s festival are Dr. Andrew Dabczynskiand Mr. Joseph Stepec. Dr. Dabczynskiis an emeritus Professor of Music Education at Brigham Young University and an Author and Clinician for the Alfred Publishing Company. Internationally recognized for his expertise in string pedagogy, Dr. Dabczynski appears frequently as a clinician for teachers and guest conductor for student ensembles throughout the United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and Mexico. He is the co-author of the widely acclaimed comprehensive string method series, String Explorer. Mr. Stepec is the Director of Orchestras at the University of Hawaii Manoa. As a violinist, he has participated in festivals in Maine, Texas, Vermont, and North Carolina. He has performed recitals in Cleveland, Nashville, Cincinnati, and abroad in Slovenia.

Please fill out the application(s) carefully. All groups are requested to stay and listen to at least two other group performances, as this will be an enlightening and valuable experience for the students. Audience admission for non-participants (siblings, parents, chaperones, etc.) will be available at the auditorium door for $3.00, payable by cash or check.
