GRESHAM PARISH COUNCIL

ANNUAL PARISH MEETING REPORT BY CHAIRMAN

The Chairman opened the Meeting and thanked all for attending

As you all know following our last Annual Parish Meeting, all the groups in the village worked together to hold the service and celebration tea for the Queen’s 90th Birthday, which was enjoyed by all who attended, in particular the bell ringing lessons.

The car boot sales and fete, which no doubt will be reported by the Village Park Committee, was very successful and thanks are due to the Committee for all their hard work. You may also know that the Park Committee have been helping to accommodate the Cromer Junior Football Team throughout the winter months and more thanks to them for that. Congratulations to Hayley for winning the Big Society Fund Voluntary Award for her contribution to young people – very well deserved against some very strong finalists. Those of us who attended the awards enjoyed the evening, including the buffet!

Later on in the yearClr. Deegan and our Clerk represented the Parish Council at the Mayor’s Civic Celebration and at Christmas the Parish Council were asked to do a reading at the Carol Service in the Church, as part of what was an enjoyable evening service.

Councillor Deegan has been representing the Parish Council on the Norfolk Association of Local Councils’ Executive Committee, which has been a demanding job this year due to staff changes. Thank you to her for being a voice for smaller parish councils. From that, I will shortly be attending a garden party at Buckingham Palace, representing the Parish Council.

Our plans for the next year are to carry out a little maintenance in the village, including painting the village sign, which is beginning to look a bit tired, alongside all the other matters we deal with, such as planning, highways and allotments. I am sure our busy Park Committee also has plans which they will report on next.
