- Welcome and Introductions
New members were welcomed to the group
- Minutes of the last meeting
The minutes were agreed as correct.
- Matters arising
- Clarification about being able to book double appointments using the patient on line service. KT confirmed it is possible to book a double appointment by booking two consecutive appointments.
- Clinical Commissioning Group
- KT advised that she had been unable to arrange a speaker from the CCG as yet.
- The CCG has developed a website which can be accessed at .
Leeds South and East CCG is made up of 44 practices including ourselves from East and South Leeds. From April 2013 the CCG will be responsible for designing local health services to meet the health and social care needs of our population and make the best of public money.
- CCG Questionnaire distributed for those wishing to provide feedback
- Mens Health: Draft mens health newsletter discussed.
- AAA screening explained. Every year men turning 65 years of age will be invited to attend for AAA screening. Patients unable to attend on the clinic date will be offered an appointment at a different location. Men over 65 can self refer into the screening programme by phoning 0113 3923740.
- It was suggested that nausea be added to the symptoms of bowel cancer and also that reference should be made to patients with a strong family history.
- Confirmed that whilst the NHS health check is for 40 to 74 year olds the same advice would be available to the over 75’s if they wished to book an appointment with the nursing team.
- Overall the newsletter was agreed to be good and would be made available
- in the surgery
- On the internet
- Attached to repeat prescriptions
- Via messages on the patient call screen
- Confidentiality – Radio in waiting room
Feedback was requested regarding the radio in the waiting room and whether it assisted with confidentiality at the reception desk. Feedback was mixed, the choice of radio 2 will obviously not appeal to all visitors to the practice. The volume needs to be set appropriately. Further feedback to be obtained at the next meeting when it has been in place for a few months.
.
- Appointment availability
Demand for GP appointments had been high in the past few months and feedback was requested from the group as to whether they had experienced any problems. No concerns were raised. Patient noted that they were pleased that they could get an emergency appointment.
- Community weight management service
The weight management service are looking for a new name and have asked for patient feedback. Leaflet and questionnaire made available to those members interested in replying.
- Patient Survey 2012
We are preparing to repeat the patient survey carried out towards the end of 2011. Feedback was sought on whether to use the same survey as last year or if any questions should be added, removed or amended. The group unanimously agreed to continue with the same survey as last year.
- Ideas from suggestion box
One comment was posted regarding privacy at reception desk when having to state reason for nursing appointment. A number of measures have been introduced to improve privacy including sign at reception offering a private room if required and the radio. Reception staff will receive additional awareness training around these issues
- Any other business
- Dietician and weight management services were discussed. KT advised that preventing health problems is now a major item on the commissioning agenda. The group felt that facilities such as a weight management group at the surgery would be beneficial.
- How to increase the age range of the group. Whilst a later meeting may enable patients who work to attend there was also a general feeling that many would still not wish to participate.
- Date and time of next meeting
