STUDENTS ELIGIBLE

All students in Suffolk County who will be entering Grades 1 through Grade 8 for the 2017/18 school year are eligible to enroll. The full-day program is from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. and the half-day program is from 9 a.m.

- 12 p.m. Students must enroll for two week sessions.

PROGRAM ACTIVITIES for the Enrichment Program

Science and Math Enrichment Courses

Hands-on science and math classes are designed to make ALL students get excited about the world around us. Sample programs include Legoland, Robotics, Bubbles, Ornithology (Birds), MoreToMath and Rocketry.

Literacy Courses

Students will participate in small groups specifically designed to develop literacy skills and engage students in their learning. Sample courses include Cook Up a Story, Web Design, Colonial Games, Reader’s Theater, Chef Shop and Viva Espanol.

Reading for All

Students will explore a wide variety of texts by participating in small reading groups at their instructional levels and will become involved in activities related to their reading. Reading for All will use fiction and non-fiction materials to engage students as they learn how reading can expand their world. Students will be taught using Common Core materials intended to encourage student’s reading interest.

Field Trips

Various field trips in the afternoon program will be offered as an option to all half-day and full-day students for an additional fee. Possible trips are to Long Island Aquarium, Long Island Children’s Museum, and Splish-Splash.

Afternoon Programs

The afternoon program will provide swimming and water safety instruction at a Town of Brookhaven pool (with parent permission), organized sports and games, art expressions, dance expressions and strategic games.

OTHER PROGRAM FEATURES:

Extended Child Care Program:

To provide for the needs of working parents, the 2017 Comsewogue Summer Enrichment Program will offer extended child care from 7:00 - 9:00 a.m. and from 4:00 - 6:00 p.m. Parents must enroll by selecting,

“Extended Day” on the registration form on page 4 of this brochure.

Special 10 Week Program and Rate - Students enrolling in the Enrichment Program for all 6 weeks may enroll in the Comsewogue Summer Fun and Learning Program from June 25 to June 30 and August 14 to September 1 for a special rate of $1,500.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

Parents will provide transportation to and from the program.

Parents will provide lunch and snacks for their children.
