BASIC PURPOSE OF THE JOB

Oversee the technical operations in the mammography department. Oversee the mammography quality control and ensure compliance with MQSA guidelines. Follow quality control procedures. Assist physicians with formulating a medical diagnosis, while complying with safety and regulatory requirements.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • 1-3 years previous mammography experience.
  • ARRT license or ACR accreditation requirements must be met for all modalities performed.
  • Current certification by the ARRT. Current State of Nevada Mammography license. BCLS required.
  • Ability to do essential job duties.
  • Ability to read, understand, write, speak and follow English instructions. Bilingual preferred.
  • Display superior interpersonal skills for effective communication with patient and peers.
  • Possess superior knowledge of mammography and stereotactic procedures and techniques.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Essential functions are critical or fundamental to the performance of the job. They are the major functions for which the person in the job is held accountable. The following are the essential functions of the job.

Duties:

  1. Greet, accept and prepare the patient for mammography and stereotactic guided procedures. Other modalities, including x-ray may apply if certified.
  2. Assess and document patient’s condition to determine proper handling and special requirements.
  3. Ensure positive experience for the patient while at any PMI facility and uphold company objective for patient satisfaction.
  4. Check requisition for physician notes and/or special instructions.
  5. Instruct and assist patients in assuming physical position for appropriate test.
  6. Analyze the monitoring results to determine if any corrective action is necessary.
  7. Adhere to procedure protocols as established by the Medical Director.
  8. Enforce radiation safety procedures to provide a safe environment for patients and staff. Safety procedures for other modalities may apply if certified.
  9. Ensure documentation of quality assurance/control testing as required by MQSA.
  10. Conduct or train for proper operation of all equipment.
  11. Maintain mammography/stereotactic equipment and rooms in proper working condition. Performs QC on equipment as established by MQSA. Reports malfunction and necessary repairs to Tech Manager.
  12. Arrange for preventative maintenance including calibrations of equipment.
  13. Performs other duties and/or special projects as assigned.

Standing This position frequently requires standing for short periods of time for patient assessment, positioning patient for procedure, communicating with all facility personnel, faxing, copying and completing other job related duties.

Sitting This position consistently requires sitting to configure and enter data needed for electronic medical charts, diagnostic procedures on a RIS and PACS computer system and other essential job duties.

Reaching This position frequently requires reaching with hands and arms approximately 3 ft. all directions to assist patients while at the facility for a required procedure and/or perform various job related functions.

Carrying This position occasionally requires carrying objects weighing up a maximum of 25 lbs. for short distances to carry out essential job related duties.

Pushing This position occasionally requires pushing objects weighing a maximum of 50 lbs.

Pulling This position occasionally requires pulling objects weighinga maximum of 50 lbs. to assist patients while at the facility for a required procedure and/or perform various job related functions.

Handing This position frequently requires handing paper, clipboards or objects to patients, staff, doctors, and vendors to carry out essential job duties.

Speaking This position consistently requires excellent verbal abilities to communicate with patients, co-workers, doctors, and vendors on a daily basis.

Hearing This position consistently requires auditory abilities to efficiently listen to patients, doctors, vendors, co-workers, and staff to carry out essential job duties.

Seeing This position consistently requires acute visual abilities to conduct requested medical procedures, see the computer to enter patient data and document necessary information to become part of the patient’s electronic chart, read patient related documents, physician requests, and other job related paperwork to carry out essential job duties.

Explanation: The Mammography Tech position has access to confidential information such as social security numbers, dates of birth, and HIPAA information for all patients seen at the outpatient facility.

Explanation: A majority of affiliated personnel and patients communicate with our business in English. Bilingual abilities are a plus.

What kind of work experience (including length of time), training, and/or level of education is necessary for this position? The Mammography Tech must possess skills and abilities to perform each essential job duty proficiently. This position requires a minimum of 1-3 years of previous mammography experience. Must possess knowledge of Mammography procedures and technique as required by MQSA. Current ARRT license or ACR accreditation requirements must be met for all modalities performed. Current State of Nevada Mammography license and BCLS are required. Competency in standard precautions and aseptic technique.

List any technical skills (typing, computer skills, etc.): The skills required by this position include, but are not limited to, typing, computer literacy, faxing, scanning, copying, and knowledge of data entry on a RIS and PACS system.

List other special training and/or abilities are necessary to qualify for this position? The person that fills this position must be able to read, write, understand and interpret reports and correspondence in English. The individual must have problem solving and analytical skills to interpret physician requests and relay procedure results to facility physicians. The candidate must have excellent oral and written communication skills needed for daily interpersonal communication with patients, staff, vendors, doctors, and direct report. Bilingual ability is preferred, but not required.

Working Conditions

Are there particular working conditions associated with this position that should be noted (i.e., working environment, hours of work, travel, work space, etc.)? Yes

Explanation: The working environment is in a medical office setting that can be moderately loud at times because of the machinery. This position will carry out his/her duties in an average sized workspace. This position requires traveling to all Company facilities. The hours of work may vary depending on the necessity of the facility. Overtime may be required.
