Community Presbyterian Church has been serving the greater Lombard-Villa Park area for over 60 years. We have an active and growing congregation, with established active and energetic children and youth ministry programs. Our Mission is to Reach out to Christ, Grown with Christ, Send and Serve with Christ.

This is a part time position (25 hoursaverage per week, less in summer) that is responsible for the oversight of our Children’s Christian Ministry and Education ages Pre-School through 5th grade. Bachelor’s Degree preferred. Prior experience in an educational setting preferred. (Classroom teaching experience) Christian Education certificate and background a plus, but not necessarily required. Average Schedule: Daily 4 hours M-F, office. 2 hours Wednesday afternoons, 2 hours a month meetings (evenings), and 4 hours on Sundays.

The preferred candidate will attend various board and committee meetings, have experience with working with established (as well as developing) volunteer cadres in addition to participating in Church Services. Strong organizationaltalents, coaching and follow up skills a must. The DCE will work closely with CPC Staff and membership.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to Children’s Ministry oversight including Sunday school, After School Programs, (Faith Weavers and Kids Club), Vacation Bible School, and annual Special family events programming. (Pumpkin Carving, Christmas Event, and Good Friday Easter Egg Hunt) DCE person will serve on the Growing Place Advisory Board and be part of reaching out to the Growing Place parents. The position will have a first priority of our church and our children but a 2ndpriority of providing information of interest toparents.

Administrative skills include curriculum choices and implementation experience, organization of classes, lesson plans, etc. Written and oral presentation skills. Some public speaking required. Budgeting experience helpful. Plan all calendar events. Recruit and Assign responsibilities for events. Submit a monthly report and attend Session meetings. Prepare annual Budget and monthly or quarterly reporting. Prepare and submit articles for the newsletter, website, programs, etc. Prepare and submit children’s activity and event advertising.
