Discussion Requirements

Weekly discussions will consist of two parts: a post and a reply. The post must be submitted to the discussion forum each week within 72 hours of class. Each student must then reply to at least 1 classmate’s post before the next lecture. Please post your discussion as early as possible, to allow for critical dialogue. Feel free to reply more than once.

When replying to a post, be sure to hit the “Quote” button, NOT the “reply” button. This will ensure your reply is understood in context and can be graded fairly. Failure to do so may result in a lowered grade.

Discussion Grading

Full credit will only be given to posts and replies submitted on time. A late post may be penalized by 1 point (10% of total discussion grade). Forgetting to reply by the following lecture class will result in being penalized 2 points (20% of total grade). Again, it is best to post your discussion as early as possible, but wait until the 72-hour deadline to reply.

Discussion Rubric

Please take some time to review the different objectives in order to craft meaningful discussions. The following rubric will be the basis on which your discussions will be graded throughout the semester.

Make-ups

• None without approval from faculty
