Harpswell's Tailgate & Recreate at Mitchell Field
to celebrate the abundance of recreational activities available to the Town.
July 16, 10 am - 2 pm
(Rain Date: July 17th)
A large scavenger hunt will be ongoing throughout the day. We will also have a horseshoe pit, corn hole, various old-fashioned races (sack, three legged, etc.) and a craft area. Beach combing, swimming and fishing is available on the waterfront – you can bring your kayaks too. People should plan to bring their kites, blankets, games, picnics, and smiles. Yoga and chair massages will be offered. Two separate musical guests will be performed at the Bandstand by the Sea (see details below). Local Harpswell restaurants will be selling food from limited menus. This will be a great event for Harpswell residents and visitors to the Town. The event is intended to introduce people to, and celebrate, all of the wonderful activities Harpswell has to offer.

The Fred Cantu Blues Band
A hot, versatile Blues and Rock band consisting of Fred Cantu playing all the Saxophones, along with Ronnie Bouffard on drums, Phil Clement on guitar, Scott Davis on trumpet, and Paul Rice on bass, this band can play anything from quiet background music to in-your-face blowing your hair back rock and dance music. We specialize in popular tunes from Eric Clapton, Ray Charles, Stevie Ray Vaughn, ZZ-Top and others.
Fred has assembled top quality, professional musicians, each with significant experience in performance, band leadership and musicianship. You’ll enjoy what you hear.

Charlie Bernier
Maine native Singer/Songwriter Charles Bernier
will perform all original music. After performing
and recording for 25 years up and down the East Coast, as well as in California, Charles has settled in Harpswell.
His genres of folk music includes alternative folk, folk rock, blues and music that speaks to his love of the coast of Maine. His music has been covered internationally, on the radio and television. Grammy award winning composer Marissa Dodge says: "Charles Bernier is an accomplished acoustic guitarist on both six string and 12 string guitars, as well as a harmonica player. Bernier's style range and songwriting skills encompass a real life approach to his lyrics that not only cuts to the heart of the human experience, but often presents an unusual slant on life."
