Sermon Notes:

“Lifted Up”

I Samuel 1~2:11 (pp.418)

A few things worth noting about Hannah’s prayer:

·  It reflects Hannah’s experiences, while also paralleling Israel’s exodus experiences with God.

·  It goes far beyond her answered prayer, focusing on the character of the one who answered it.

·  Hannah’s praise is prophetic, looking to Israel’s future king and calling him anointed—the King and not merely an earthly ruler.

·  Her praise comes at the moment when she is leaving her son behind in ministry!

·  Hannah’s prayer sounds a lot like Jesus’ mother Mary’s prayer (Luke 1:46-56)

In reverence and respect to God,

Kindly turn off all cell phones and electronic devices during the worship service. Thank you.

Larry & Ruth Spalink: Larry serves as Field Director for CRWM in Japan, a monumental task. He supervises three church planting projects directly. A big thank you to Cedar Hill for your love and financial support.

Pray for our denomination as a congregation on Sunday, April 21 or attend a watch and pray event in your area.

Free Webinar: Many deacons today are not trained and prepared to fulfill their role in the church. Join us on April 24 for a free webinar, “Be an effective Deacon in today’s church,” which will identify the main roles of the deacon, discuss how deacons can be more effective with benevolence needs, and learn how to encourage good stewardship of time, talent, and finances.
