Overview:

Responsible for managing an assembly line production team of up to 17 to 25 employees with a focus on: Safety, production line assembly, maintaining cost vs. budget, quality, line balancing, and administrative reporting.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

·  Shift Transitions- Arrive 30 minutes before shift start up to consult with counterpart to discuss current production runs and any possible issues. Perform any necessary preparation to take over a running production line.

·  Pre-Run Preparation- The organization and coordination of all elements and persons needed to run a new production line in accordance to preset line staffing.

·  Management of Work Orders- Ensure that the correct items have been staged and are being used. This requires astute knowledge of products and accurate interpretation of the Bill of Material (BOM) and Distro reports. The BOM and Distro must be read and understood thoroughly before proceeding.

·  Understanding & knowledge of line balancing in accordance with the Line Staffing and Time Standards report (personnel placement, bottle neck management) to maximize productivity per minute and hour as set by engineering standards.

·  Ensuring lines are building to Quality Assurance standards and Optimization Specifications per guidelines and by conducting a quality assurance 4 zone check every two hours.

·  Zero defects as noted by Quality Assurance are daily shift goals.

·  Build product to spec-ability to effectively demonstrate and communicate to personnel the proper procedures & steps in building product.

·  Identify & direct excess inventory items to the designated area(s).

·  Enforce company safety guidelines, including leading group safety meetings.

·  Ensure that an organized work area is maintained including: ensuring that the walk areas are clear of debris, surrounding line & work area is kept organized and kept clear of empty boxes, clutter, and/or “scrap”. Requires the ability to correctly identify the difference between essential and non- essential items.

·  Enforce compliance to Company Policies and Procedures

·  Train and develop work team to the standards of the Job Description for each category of employee on the team.

·  Motivate the work team to a productive pace that is within or exceeds the budgetary guidelines of the company.

·  Resolve conflict between employees as necessary. Escalate conflicts to direct supervision whenever necessary.

·  Complete all production reports including the Hourly Cost report, Production report, and Attendance report in timely manner.

·  Participate in company training programs.

·  Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by management.

Typical Physical Demands:

·  Function in a fast paced warehouse environment with temperature variations.

·  Carry out warehouse and production assembly work.

·  Stand for a period of at least 8 hours.

·  Lift at least 35lbs, including items of different weights, sizes, and shapes.

·  Perform bending and pulling as well as hand dexterity.

Knowledge:

·  Ability to foster team work and supervise others.

·  Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in written form. Bi-lingual (Spanish) verbal communication desired, but not required.

·  Recognition of issues on shift / lines and quick reaction with corrections to continue output and quality at acceptable levels.

·  Ability to distinguish products by size, color, brand, and design.

·  Knowledge of job descriptions and work instructions for all positions on the Production line and how it relates to specific duties, tasks, and assignments.

·  ASCTRAC (warehouse management system) a plus.

·  Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office software desired such as: Word, Excel, and Outlook.

Education:

·  High School Diploma or Equivalent

Experience:

·  Previous experience as a line lead desired or some level of management capacity in a production, manufacturing/warehouse environment a plus.
