North East Region England Fencing Regional BYC Qualifiers 2015
This competition is to select fencers for the British Youth Championships final taking place at the EIS in Sheffield, on 2nd-4thMay 2015. Those who finish in the top 4 of these Regional Qualifiers will be entered by the North East and will represent that region nationally.
Do not enter this qualifier competition if you do not intend to compete in the finals at Sheffield. If you do this may be denying a place for another fencer!
North East BYC Qualifier Competition

Cost: £25 per weapon (This includes entry to BYC finals in Sheffield if finish in top 4)
Deadline for entries :3rd March 2015
Competitions will be held in the following categories, (Age as at 1st January 2015)
Under 12 Under 14 Under 16 Under 18
Check-in times will be updated on when the organisers know how many entries per category. If entries are 4 or less on the deadline date, qualification will be automatic. All entrants must expect to compete on this day.

Eligibility:
- Must be resident in the North East Region or a member of a North East fencing club
- Years of birth for this season are:
U10 – Born 2005, 2006 or 2007U12 - Born 2003 or 2004
U14 – Born 2001 or 2002U16 – Born 1999 or 2000U18 - Born 1997 or 1998
- Fencers must be UK residents.
Under 10 events are via British Fencing
- Under 10 Epee Championships - 12th April 2015
- Under 10 Sabre Championships - 26th April 2015
- Under 10 Foil Championships - 17th May 2015
In the U12 & U14 Competitions, the maximum blade sizes are: Foil - size 3, Epée - size 2 and Sabre – size 2.
In the U16 & U18 Foil Events size 5 blades will be used throughout, and lame bibs and mask wires will be required
Fencers with bye’sAny fencer who reached the last 8 in their event at last year's British Youth Championships may claim a bye in this year's Championships at the same weapon, regardless of age group; this includes finalists from the U10 events. Fencers claiming a bye will receive an email from British Fencing asking if they want to take up their bye. To claim their bye they will need to follow the link in the email and pay the entry fee of £26 (the same amount as a qualifier through a region would pay) online.

Deadline: 3rd March 2015 together with the Entry Fee £25.00 (This includes entry to the BYCs if you are in the top 4 of this Qualifier). Late entries (i.e. where the entry fee and full details of the fencer on properly completed application form have not been received by the closing date) may be subject to a £5 administrative surcharge OR be refused entry to the competition. Photography will be restricted to those who register on the day with the organisers.
