DIARY:
Each learner will receive a school diary (free of charge). This diary has important information for the parents. Please page the diary for important information on school clothes, school rules etc. School homework will be written in the diary and is also an aid to communicate with the educator. If your child loses the diary it cost R30 for a new diary. Your child’s debit and credit card is also in the diary and must be signed on a regular basis. Please complete and sign all forms in the diary.
LOCKERS:
Lockers are available for R30 for the big and R20 for the small lockers per term. Contact Fiona in the office.
NEEDY CHILDREN PROJECT
We have a needy children project where parents provide sandwiches for the needy children during first break. If you want to become involved you can get one turn per month where you have to make 30 sandwiches, pack them in separate plastic bags and bring them to school not later than 9 o’ clock in a plastic bag or box. You can also make a difference if you send a sweet, cold drink or fruit for 60 learners to school at least once a month. You can also help by donating money (for example R2 per month) to the needy children fund. If you want to become involved you can phone Maureen de Klerk at 0823327172, or just send your donation to school.
INTERHOUSE ATHLETICS MEETING:
The Interhouse athletics meeting takes place on Friday 14 January from 08:00 - 13:00.
All the athletes who came in with the Interhouse athletics meeting in 2010, new learners and learners who still wants to participate, will participate on Friday.
The rest of the grade 4-7 learners will sit on the pavilion and cheer on the athletes.
If it rains the athletics will take place on Monday 17 January. The learners come to school dressed in comfortable casual clothes.

They must also bring their school bags to school so that they can do school work if it rains. The bags will be locked in the class until 13:10. The classes will not be unlocked before 13:10.
The grade 1 learners, who are not athletes can stay at home on Friday (except if it rains) because all the teachers work as umpires. There will be supervision for those grade 1 learners who come to school. Please indicate on the return slip if your child in grade 1 will come to school on Friday.
No learner may leave the premises unless they were signed out by their parents in the office.
We still need parents to help us on Friday by being umpires. Please complete the return slip if you are willing to help. Adam van Staden will contact you.
PLASTIC ENVELOPES:
An excellent idea is for grade 4 - 7 learners to buy plastic envelopes and pack each learning areas books separately e.g. math textbook + math exercise books in one envelope etc. This will prevent certain books being left at home and also makes the task easier to pack the books in and out of the schoolbags. .
FIRST PAYMENT OF SCHOOL FEES:
We would like to thank all the parents who paid their school fees on 11 January. We have a lot of expenses in the beginning of the year for stationary, books and textbooks. We need the money to be able to provide quality education.
TEST TIME TABLE FOR THE FIRST TERM : GRADE 4-7:
The Grade 4-7 learners will receive the test time table on 24 January 2011 as well as the demarcation of the work for the first term tests. The time test table is as follow:
3 February / Afrikaans10 February / English
17 February / Mathematics
24 February / Natural Science
3 March / Social Science
10 March / Economic and Management Science
17 March / Technology
24 March / Art and Culture
CCTV CAMERAS:
We want to install CCTV cameras in the school. Tender documents are available in the office. Tenders close at 31 January 2011.
SCHOLAR PATROL
Please take note that the Scholar patrol will no longer do duty on the corner of Jan van Riebeeck / Gerrit Maritz and Jan van Riebeeck / Rachel de Beer Streets. These crossing have become too busy and we informed the Metro Police of our decision. It is the Metro Polices duty to help our learners across the street at these crossings.
Thank you for understanding.
GOVERNING BODY – SPORT
We need a Sport representative in the Governing Body for all sport activities at school. If you are interested please contact the principal at school.
SECOND HAND CLOTHING SHOP
Do you have any unused clothes and school clothes that are too small for your children? Please send it to the Second hand clothing shop of the school. We also need winter clothes and Friday clothes. The school has many needy learners who benefit from these clothes. If you need any clothes for 2011 you can contact Mathilda at 012 546 1358 or 082 412 9427 for an appointment. The Gr. 1 – 3 from 07:30 – 07:50 and the Gr. 4 – 7 from 13:30 to 13:45.
