Job Summary / The University of Utah David Eccles School of Business (DESB) Executive Education delivers world-class executive education and custom solutions to businesses both within and outside of Utah. Executive Education is a revenue-generating unit within theDESB, with a fast-paced, professional, customer focused and results driven culture.
Reporting to the Executive Education Associate Director, the Sales Specialist is responsible for contributing to all aspects of prospect identification and cultivation of non-degree certificate and customized programs for the Executive Education team at the University of Utah,DESB.
This position requires a highly motivated team member who will be part of the sales team and will focus on selling the programs offered by Executive Education. In order to generate interest and assist with client commitments, this positions responsibilities may include developing relationships with new clients, following-up on leads from class attendees, making business development calls, prospecting, delivering sales presentations, and upselling the Executive Education programs.
The Executive Education team is ultimately responsible for generating interest and assisting with securing clients commitments to certificate and customized Executive Education Programs to corporate clients and generating a sustainable ongoing revenue stream of over $1.5 million for each of the next few years.
Responsibilities / • This position will use a consultative approach to define the client’s business and leadership challenges, management development needs, and then work with the Executive Education team to create innovative learning experiences that address the client’s needs and deliver long-term value. Overall, strategic thinking, people skills, experience with executive audiences and consultative selling skills are critical to success in the role.
• Actively manage and report on pipeline, status of the business, entries into Salesforce, and forecast revenue, therefore attention to detail is necessary.
• Reach out to new clients, assist with writing proposals, investigate client opportunities and generate new business leads.
• Assist with delivering training programs which includes, reserving classrooms, ordering food, coordinating schedules and materials with faculty, preparing necessary classroom materials, and classroom set-up and clean-up.

Minimum Qualifications / Associates degree in related field or its equivalent with 2-4 years sales experience applicable to assigned University department. Demonstrated human relations and effective communication skills required. Depending upon department of assignment, preference may be given for a background in hospitality, marketing, communications, public relations, or athletics.
Preferences / • An understanding of business and business school academic disciplines, strategic thinking, proven business development and relationship skills, and consultative selling and negotiating skills are critical to success in this role.
• The ideal candidate will have experience in learning and development, corporate relations, executive or professional education.
• A true enjoyment of client relationship management, engaging in the discovery process, and aligning learning solutions with organizational challenges is critical to success in this role.
• Ability to secure appointments with key decision makers and influencers, and increase awareness of our portfolio of programs (custom and open enrollment) with new clients.
• Listening to client’s needs and translating them into learning solutions.
• Collaboration, high energy, enthusiasm, and creativity.
• Ability to create proposals and budgets and contribute to meeting the team’s revenue goals.
• Ability to set clear direction and manage workflow. Ability to foster teamwork among staff members.
• Excellent problem solving ability combined with the ability to successfully manage multiple projects.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written.
• Very strong organization skills and attention to detail. The candidate needs to be organized, flexible, detail oriented and able to work in a fast-paced demanding environment.
• Must be a collaborative, collegial individual who enjoys working with diverse populations and being a member of a team.
• Strong computer literacy skills required and the ability to learn new software.
