Rules and information for all events

Any competitors who are likely to be delayed on the competition day, for any reason, must contact the Sports Centre or 07946 732412 or 07946 732552.Any fencers who are not present at, or who have not contacted the Organisers by, the close of check-in will be scratched. NB these numbers should only be used during BYC weekends. At other times please contact the Organiser.

MEMBERSHIP must be up to date and cards will be inspected at check-in.

EQUIPMENT: All equipment must conform with the current British Fencing Guidelines for Safety. Particular note will be taken of: (a) Masks must be without rust, holes or deformation and must have an elastic backstrap. (b) Clothing must be free from tears and damage or weakness. (c) A regulation plastron must be worn.For U16/18 events this must be 800N.(d) Gloves must overlap the sleeve. (e) Breeches must be worn, no alternatives will be allowed. (f) Socks must be of sufficient length to ensure that the legs are fully covered. (g) Blades must be of size two or smaller for the U14 Epee and Sabre events, and size 3 or smaller for U14 Foil events and the U10’s Championships must use size 0 blades. Please remember that all fencers are required to have a minimum of 2 working weapons and 2 working body wires on the piste. (h) Competitors equipment will be checked on the piste by the Referee and further spot checks will be made by the DT and Armourers. Competitors should note that weights and gauges will be used.

Weapon Control: will take place on the piste.

RULES:a) The competitions will be run under British Fencing Rules, except that the Organisers reserve the right to make such changes as may be deemed necessary for the smooth running of any of the competitions.

b)All entries are accepted on the understanding that the Competitor's Parents/Guardians have read and accepted these regulations. Further that the Organising Committee, The British Fencing Association; their respective committees, officers and any persons appointed by them to assist in running the British Youth Championships shall not be held responsible for any loss, damage or accidents to persons or property however sustained.

c)Blade Sizes for U12/14 Epee and Sabre – maximum size 2, Foil – maximum size 3.

d)Please note the following safety rules:

FORMULA: The competitions will be run with a mixed system of pools and direct elimination. There will be one round of pools, with no elimination, followed by a DE Tableau without repechage.

DIRECTIONS: From M6 South at junction 15 take A500 towards Stoke,* take City Road A5007 to Fenton, at first roundabout take second exit the Sports Centre is off on the left just after this roundabout.

From M6 North at junction 16 take A500 past Festival Park, stay on A500 until A5007 then directions are as above*

If approaching from M1 via A50 take A5007westbound to Fenton, King Street becomes City Road and sports Centre is up lane on right hand side of road signposted Sports Centre.

There is ample parking. NB there is a large modern swimming pool within the Sports Centre.

ACCOMMODATION: It is the responsibility of competitors to arrange their own accommodation and rates must be checked when booking.
