To inspire and prepare young people to succeed in a global economy
1
Dear Parent/Guardian:
Welcome to another great school year at (insert school name). This year, I will have a wonderful program in my classroom, Junior Achievement (JA). This program requires community volunteers to lead preplanned sessions that help to educate and inspire young people to understand business and be workforce ready. An ideal partnership is to have one of my classroom parents/guardians facilitate these activities. As a Junior Achievement volunteer, you will make a difference in the lives of students by developing:
The desire in young people to stay in school and appreciate lifelong learning.
Positive attitudes in young people toward work and toward contributing to a diverse society
Community and education partnerships that create a bridge between the classroom and the “real world”
Our school will provide the training on (DATE 1 and DATE 2 from TIME to TIME). Junior Achievement will provide all materials. The time commitment includes one observation visit and presenting five or six sessions, which are typically taught once a week for five or six weeks. Each session takes approximately 40 to 55 minutes and all activities are interactive, hands-on and designed to be taught by people other than the classroom teacher.
If you choose to become a JA Volunteer, we will work together to accommodate your schedule as we select appropriate visit dates and times. Please contact me to participate in my classroom, or if you wish, in another classroom on campus. (Include your phone number and email).
As a parent, you are already aware of the great impact an adult can have on the life of a child. Please help (school name) make an impact on our community’s future.
Sincerely,
(Teacher Name and Signature)
