I am pleased to meet you and I write this letter in order to introduce myself and tell you a little bit more about Communications 11. Some of you have been in my class before, so you know a bit about me already, but some of you I’m just meeting for the first time! My name is Mrs. Taylor and I am beginning my tenth year at Howe Sound Secondary School. My area of focus at the University of British Columbia as an undergraduate was English and Social Geography, and, having enjoyed my areas of study, I decided to help others learn about literature and society through teaching high school. I am married and I am the mother of two little girls. I look forward to the semester that we will spend together in Communications 11.

This semester, our first unit will be spent reading a really interesting novel called The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nighttime. During this course, we will work on some writing skills and graphic design. This letter format, in fact, will be useful to you as you do your first assignment today, which will be a formal letter of introduction from you to me.

As we work together this semester, we will get to know each other better. This letter is just a little jump start. There are many things that you might want me to know about you. You can write about your family, your hobbies, your job, your friends, your interests at school, or what you want to learn in this course.
