Sky High Marketing began their business in Milwaukee eighteen years ago and in 2007 the family moved to Las Vegas and opened a second location. Tanya says “We are a family business and have built the business from the ground up.” Sky High Marketing is a local woman owned business with twelve full-time employees. (Q2) How did you become familiar with business opportunities with UNLV?

Tanya said “I handle business development for the company and participate in several networking groups such as: The Henderson and Las Vegas chambers of commerce, American Marketing Association and Society for Marketing Professional Services (SMPS). SMPS is where I learned about a Request For Qualifications solicitation that UNLV had out for on-call promotional items. We decided to submit a response and we were awarded a contract as a result of that submittal.”

Agreement information and supplier contact information can be located on UNLV’s campus contracts website: https://www.unlv.edu/purchasing/agreements6746

(Q3) To better help the UNLV campus departments understand what Sky High Marketing offers, can you offer a few reasons why they should consider doing business with Sky High Marketing? What sets Sky High Marketing apart?

According to Josh “We offer a 100% satisfaction guarantee. If a customer is not satisfied with the product, we will work with them to resolve the issue.” He also said that they have in-house design services and they work with a client to help them find the right product that is customized based on the demographics and target market. They are always available to meet with a customer on-site and to provide free samples. Tanya says “Another thing that sets Sky High Marketing apart is that we offer the lowest price regardless of the quantity ordered.”

(Q4) How does Sky High Marketing interact with UNLV campus departments to assess promotional needs?

Every month they send existing clients an email with the most current products that are available. Sky High Marketing works with departments to find the right product that will work for the intended purpose.

(Q5) In your opinion, what are the major obstacles for small and disadvantaged businesses in Las Vegas and how can UNLV be a part of the solution?

Tanya stated “It can be hard to get an initial opportunity to do business with an organization.” Josh went on to say “UNLV is already doing their part and he is happy to be at the table. The Request For Qualification that UNLV processed was simpler than most I’ve seen.”

(Q6) The Nevada System of Education has published a Supplier Inclusion statement. What does it mean to you and how would you like to see it impact the business community serving UNLV?

The Nevada System of Higher Education supports equal opportunity for minority-owned, women-owned, and other small disadvantaged business enterprises (MWDBE) to compete for contracts awarded by NSHE institutions. The NSHE also supports efforts to encourage local businesses to compete for NSHE contracts. In addition, the NSHE supports finding opportunities for such MWDBE and local business concerns to participate as subcontractors or Tier 2 suppliers in large contracts. A “Tier 2 supplier” or subcontractor is a supplier who is contracted for goods or services with the prime contractor, and may include, but is not limited to MWDBE and local business enterprises.

Josh said “UNLV is already trying to be inclusive to all suppliers and this will help support small businesses and the local economy.”

(Q7) What one word or phrase best describes Sky High Marketing?

Tanya stated “It would be our mission statement: We are committed to expanding our clients’ brand visibility through design, apparel, promotional products, and online stores.”
