Oct 2015 Newsletter.

Hi Everyone,

Apologies for the long spell between newsletters, but the Editor had a health problem and consequently was working at a much reduced rate. However things are on the improve health wise, we’ll get back to a more normal routine.

One unfortunate bit of news is that Mabel Georgeson passed away in Heidleberg Hospital after a short illness. I wasn’t informed until after the funeral, but I’m sure you all agree to sending our sympathy to the family, albeit a little late.

Upcoming events before the end of the year include the RSL War Graves Remembrance Day Ceremony at Springvale Crematorium on Sunday the 8th of (1:30pm). Then at Waverely RSL on the 11th November at 10:30am, the Remembrance Day Ceremony. At Both these Ceremony’s our Association lays a wreath and all members are welcome to attend.

One other important Remembrance Ceremony is the annual Memorial Service and Luncheon for the HMAS Goorangai held at Queenscliffe. This Year it is on the Sunday the 22nd of November, muster outside the RSL at 11-11:15 for a short March and then After the service Lunch at the RSL. The cost of the Luncheon is $25 per head and I’d like Bookings for Lunch to be back by the 9th of Nov, Phone or email.

We’ve booked our XMAS get together for Saturday the 5th of December at Waverely RSL 11:30 for 12noon in the members lounge with small eats, sandwiches and drinks etc at a cost of $20 per head.

There is also another Shipp Division Warramunga Class to Graduate before XMAS where we present our Trophy. Wayne will supply the date in he’s president’s post. As usual, those wishing to attend ring myself or Wayne a couple of weeks prior to the date.

We’ve had some contact with Warramunga II and she has settled into her New Home port of Sydney, for the next two years. Hopefully she will get to visit us in Melbourne during this time. We have been and will continue to drop some broad hints along such lines.

I hope to see quite a few of you over the Goorangai Memorial lunch and then at the XMAS get together on the 5th of December. Please return the enclosed event slip by the date mentione.

Those of you that I don’t see prior to Xmas , all the best for XMAS and the New Year and I hope you have a lovely time with Family and friends. But take care.

Best Regards

Paul Callanan

Presidents Post

Hi to all,

I hope you are all keeping well, as Paul mentioned it has been a difficult period for a lot of families within the Association for various reasons. To the Georgeson Family, our deepest sympathy from us all.

The Association is going through another transition phase at the moment and hope will continue to grow. We are looking at new Committee members to help fill the void left by some older stalwarts.

I urge all members that are able to attend the functions that Paul has mentioned, Please reply promptly if you are able to attend. Paul has mentioned another Graduation at HMAS Cerberus but at this stage I have not received a date of the Graduation.

I had the pleasure of attending the last Shipp Passing out Parade which was a night one, it went very well.If you are not able to attend the functions I hope you have a Merry Xmas with family and friends and hope to see you in the New Year.

Best Wishes

Wayne Niklaus
