Friday 27th January “Recycled” ride to TJ's for lunch (Hutton Cranswick).

Cyclists: Dave Berger, Dave Cross, Helen Kitson, Steve Watts and Dave Williamson

Route: Cherry Burton, Etton, South Dalton, Beswick, Wilfholme Landing and return via Wansford, Hutton Cranswick, Etton and Cherry Burton

Distance 35.5 miles

A bone-marrow-chilling outing for the select few today. 7 members had indicated interest, but with Sheila in bed full of cold, Dave B doing errands early on and a couple of other handsome reasons to decline the ride today, just Dave the Big Wheel, Helen, Steve Watts and Dave Cross set off from the Molescroft Inn for TJ's via Cherry Burton, Etton, South Dalton, Beswick and Wilfolme to spot a Buzzard on a post close to the Hull river thence to the warmth of the wood-burner at our lunch stop to thaw out frozen toes and fingers. That clocked up 21 miles on Dave W's phone App (“Pimp my Ride” perhaps?) whilst Dave B had set off from home shortly after 11am for the direct (9 mile) route up the main road through Leconfield. Now being in the era of our leader Trumpeting the “Special Relationship” with the USA where “Opposites attract” one shudders to imagine what is in store for the next 4 years (dare we hope “just” four?).

Thoroughly thawed we reluctantly re-girded our loins and set off back along a similar, reversed route through Bracken, down to Etton and back though Cherry B to Bev. Helen and Steve made it through the Bar on one set of lights but by the time the two Daves made it through, neither outriders were to be seen!

33miles approx. would be what three cold warriors accomplished but a mere 22 for Dave B. Too cold and grey for pix today! (see below for map and route).

Leaders Notes

Never let it be said that the recycled cyclists would complete a ride without taking photos whatever the weather! They say that the sun always shines on the righteous and this was proved at Wilfholme Landing, as you will see from the included photos. Heading back towards Watton we parted company with Dave Cross who had decided at this stage to make a beeline for home. The remainder of the group were certainly ready for their lunch at T. J’s where they teamed up with Dave B. who had arrived some fifteen minutes earlier.

A bitterly cold day but dry. As you well know us recycled cyclists don’t like it too easy.
