Operations to Enhance Distribution
Stan Becraft to Lead New Shared Service Transportation and Logistics Group
DEERFIELD, Ill. – July 15, 2010 – United Stationers Supply Co. has announced the creation of a new Shared Services (SS) Transportation and Logistics Group that will centralize transportation services for the company’s United Stationers Supply, LagasseSweet, and ORS Nasco subsidiaries. The new group will streamline delivery operations to further enhance the gold standard it has set in distribution to resellers, and help them remain competitive.
Stan Becraft, a veteran transportation and logistics management executive with 23 years of industry experience, including leadership roles at Caterpillar, Inc. and Wal-Mart Stores, will lead the SS Transportation and Logistics group. Becraft will report to Tim Connolly, senior vice president of operations, United Stationers.
“The new transportation shared services model will enable us to capitalize on the strengths of each of our existing business unit transportation teams to better serve our valued reseller customers,” said Connolly. “Aligning our internal resources under this new group will be central to optimizing our core transportation service, and driving profitable growth for our stakeholders.”
The company anticipates all staffing appointments to be finalized for the new organization by the end of third quarter 2010.
