Dear Applicant
BUCKSHAW YOUTH AND COMMUNITY ACTIVITY FUND – ROUND ThREE, 2013
Thank you for your interest in the Fund.
Please read this guidance letter carefully. It contains information that will be used to assess your project. If you have any queries, please contact Natalie Holt on or (01257) 515151
Please note that the deadline for applications is 5pm on Friday11th October 2013. Decisions will be made in October and projects, if funded, will be able to start from November 2013. Similar funding will be available for the 2014/2015.
The aim of the Fund is to develop youth and community activities for the whole of Buckshaw Village, the Chorley and South Ribble areas. Youth and community activities are initiatives, activities and/or events that encourage participation and involvement in community life.
Applications will be assessed using the following criteria:
- How does your project enhance the provision of youth and community activities/development in Buckshaw Village?
- What evidence do you have that there is a need for your project?
- Is your project accessible to all, in terms of equality, not withstanding the residency issue?
- Will your organisation be providing, at least, 10% match funding, either in cash or in-kind, for example, the value of volunteers time?
- How well does your organisation and your project encourage partnership working and cohesion in Buckshaw Village?
- How sustainable is your project? What will happen to your project when the funding ends?
- How successful will your project be in encouraging volunteering?
Applicants can apply for grants from £500 to £5,000. Applicants will need to demonstrate that the funding will be spent within a 12 month period. If you expect your project to run for more than 12 months, this needs to be made clear in your application and you need to say whether you plan to apply to the Fund in subsequent years.
Applicants can apply for up to 90% of the total value of their project. Your 10% contribution can be cash or an in-kind contribution, for example, the value of volunteers time.Voluntary, community and faith sector organisations, and public bodies, are eligible to apply. All applicants will need to demonstrate that they have effective governance arrangements in place, for example, be a constituted group and have a bank account.
The funding is for the benefit of Buckshaw Village, so applicants will need to demonstrate how they will ensure that the majority of the projects beneficiaries are Buckshaw Village residents.Successful applicants will need to provide a report on their project. This will include evidence of expenditure and evidence that the majority of project beneficiaries are Buckshaw Village residents.
Funding decisions will be made by the Executive Member for People at Chorley Council. South Ribble Borough Council will be formally consulted before any decisions are made. The Executive Member for People’s decision is final and there is no appeal process.
To apply you need to prepare an application letter, answering all of the questions shown in the Appendix to this guidance letter. If you fail to answer any of the questions you may not provide vital information that could result in your project being unsuccessful. Please also use the numbering system, shown against each of the questions. In the right hand column is additional guidance and information, please read this carefully.
