Dear Sir or Madam:
This letter is referencing your concern of your SCUBA cylinder manufactured by Luxfer (marketed by U.S. Divers) made of the T6351 alloy. Please be aware that there has been no recall issued on these cylinders by Luxfer or any government agency.
Your Luxfer SCUBA cylinder (made of T6351 alloy) has been certified safe to be used if the following criteria have been met:
· A Hydrostatic test has been performed by a certified testing facility.
· Visual inspection has been performed using Eddie current or Visual Plus test equipment as outlined by Luxfer at a certified testing facility.
Unfortunately, there has been quite a bit of misinformation spread among the dive industry regarding the concerns of cylinders made of T6351 alloy. Some dive stores have taken up the policy not to fill these cylinders at all; although the cylinder has passed all required testing. We at Aqua Lung do not have control over individual dive stores policies. Cylinders that have passed all required testing are not eligible for warranty claims.
Luxfer SCUBA cylinders made of T6351 alloy (marketed by U.S. Divers) have a “Limited Lifetime” warranty to the original owner. It stated “The Aqua Lung cylinder for the lifetime of the original owner, that the cylinder will pass each DOT 60 month hydrostatic test.” The cylinder must meet the following criteria to be submitted for a warranty claim:
· Copy of original purchase receipt.
· Have been hydrostatically tested every (5) years (must be stamped on the cylinder).
· Proof from certified hydro facility (copy of invoice) showing the cylinder failed hydro.
If you cylinder meets all of the above criteria, please contact Aqualung customer service at 1-877-253-3483.
