Head Teacher (1 job available)

As head teacher, you will join Mr Dyson in his office for the day. This role is challenging but extremely rewarding. It requires an enthusiastic yet responsible person who is full of Parklands pride. This job needs a natural born leader; someone who is confident and outgoing as well as fair and approachable. Excellent communication and maths skills are a must.

You will be required to:-oversee and be responsible for the school (this includes the

learning, safety and general well-being of all the staff and

children

-problem solve

-interact with children, staff, parents/carers and visitors

-visit classes to celebrate children’s learning

-join the Stars of the Week for a sausage sandwich

-host the afternoon assembly (this includes celebrating the

Stars of the Week and the Times Table Champion)

Office Support (2 jobs available)AM only

The office staff are the first people to welcome visitors to our school and so this job needs someone who is happy, friendly and has good manners. If you are a responsible person with great organisation skills, this is definitely the job for you!

You will be required to:- sign in any children who are late to school and escort them

totheir class

-prepare the post (to be delivered in the afternoon)

-count Friday newsletters for each class

-count any money needing to be banked

-welcome visitors to the school

Ahead Partnership (5 jobs available)Year 5 and 6 applicants only

9:00am – 3:00pm

The 5 successful applicants will travel by taxi to the Ahead Partnership’s swanky offices on Park Row in Leeds, where you will be their ‘board’ for the day.As a board member, your day will involve a series of activities designed to help the Partnership develop new ideas and marketing for young people in Leeds. The day will finish with a short board meeting with the Chief Executive before being returning to school.This is a fantastic opportunity for anyone bursting with great ideas. (a staff member will accompany the successful applicants)

Learning Mentor (1 job available)

The role of the Learning Mentor changes every day. With so many different jobs to do, the successful applicant needs to be flexible, friendly and bursting with energy! Good organisation skills and time keeping are essential.

You will be required to:-be a good role-model

-support the class teacher in year 1 (during a lesson)

-prepare and organise ongoing projects with school

-oversee lunchtime activities

-organise and deliver team games (afternoon)

Handyman (1 job available)

The handyman job is essential in order to keep the school a safe environment. This job is ideal for a quieter applicant who is keen to take part in Takeover Day and develop their DIY skills.

You will be required to:-work with your hands - as well as you mind

-help Dave with any jobs that need doing around school

-be willing to learn new skills

-possibly get a bit dirty, depending on the day’s job list

-follow health and safety procedures

Morning Assembly Host (1 job available)

The Friday morning assembly host needs someone who is full of energy and has the confidence to speak in front of the whole school. The successful applicant for this role will have a loud voice and an entertaining style that will capture children’s interest and attention from the start.

You will be required to:-collect the attendance and punctuality reports

-collect the team points for the week

-deliver the attendance scores, punctuality stamps and team

points during the whole school assembly

Librarian (3 jobs available)Year 4 or 5 only

AM only

This is a fantastic opportunity for a book lover who is responsible, dedicated and organised. The successful applicants will be trained by Mrs Hills and will learn about how the library is organised (using the Dewey Decimal System). The library has had its mini makeover and now needs promoting! This role needs someone with fresh ideas of how to encourage more children to read for pleasure.

The exciting twist to this takeover job is that it could lead to permanent librarian roles for the rest of the school year.

You will be required to:-shelve the books

-make a record of the books on loan and returned

-think of exciting ways to encourage more people to use the

library

-think of different bookmark designs

Computing Manager (1 job available)

The Computing manager requires someone who is interested in computers. Mr Haddock will be arranging a special project and so this role needs someone who can followinstructions and work independently.

Reception Class Teacher (2 jobs available)

It takes a very special kind of person to be a reception teacher; someone who is kind, caring and patient. This role will have you surrounded by the youngest children in the school and needs someone who oozes positivity and has an endless amount of energy. As a reception teacher you will need to be someone who is patient, willing to answer the children’s questions and explain things in a way they will understand. This job is perfect for anyone who believes that you can have fun while you learn.

You will be required to:-be a good role-model

-work both indoors and outdoors (regardless of the weather)

-read a story (of your choice) to the class or a small group of

children

-support the children’s learning in the classroom and outside

-possibly get a bit messy

-prepare and teach a short phonics and/or maths lesson (or

support the children during these lessons)

-support the children during snack time and lunch time

-mark homework books or prepare homework

-prepare book bags at the end of the school day

Year 1 Class Teacher (2 jobs available)

The year 1 class teacher needs to be someone who is nurturing, patient and full of energy! You will need to be able to engage the children and show them just how much fun learning can be. Year 1 children are full of questions and will require you to answer and explain things in a way they will understand.

You will be required to:-be a good role-model

-read a story (of your choice) to the class or a small group of

children

-prepare and teach a short phonics and/or maths lesson(or

support a group of children during these lessons)

-support the children during snack time and lunch time

-prepare book bags at the end of the school day

Year 2 Class Teacher (1 job available)

As a year 2 teacher, you will be responsible for the safety and well-being of your class. This role needs someone who has good communication skills and has the confidence to speak in front of a group of children.

-support a group during Guided Reading

-support a group of children with reading comprehension

work

-support the children during snack time and lunch time

-help prepare book bags at the end of the school day

Year 3 Class Teacher (2 jobs available)

As a year 3 teacher, you will be responsible for the safety and well-being of your class. This role needs someone who has good communication skills and has the confidence to speak in front of a group of children. The successful applicant must be willing to prepare a lesson (support will be given), teach the lesson and mark the children’s work.

RP Class Teacher (1 job available)

The role of the RP teacher needs someone who is loving, caring and patient. The successful applicant will ooze positivity and have an endless amount of energy. This job needs someone who recognises, appreciates and is keen to meet the different learning needs of each child in the class.

You will be required to:-be a good role-model

-work both indoors and outdoors (regardless of the weather)

-read a story (of your choice) to the class or a small group of

children

-support the children’s learning in the classroom and outside

-possibly get a bit messy

-prepare and teach a short phonics and/or maths lesson (or

Sous-chef (2 jobs available)Year 5 and 6 only

AM only (until1:00pm)

There is more to this job than just cooking, there is a lot of preparation work that needs to be done on the day as well as the dishes at the end of lunch time! Good maths skills are desirable as you may be required to follow a recipe and double or even quadruple the ingredients.

This job is based in the kitchen around sharp objects and hot ovens, therefore the sous-chef needs to be someone who is sensible, responsible and mature. You will need to be able to work efficiently and to a deadline – if not, there will be a lot of rumbling tummies! Excellent hygiene is essential for this role.

You will be required to:-help prepare the school dinner for the day

-(possibly) work independently following a recipe

-help set up the dinner hall ready for lunch

-make sure the food is cooked and ready to be served on time

-help tidy the kitchen and the dishes at the end of lunch

Lunchtime Server (2 jobs available)Lunchtime only

This job needs someone who is polite and enjoys talking to different people. The successful applicant will need to be efficient; there are a lot of mouths to feed and not a lot of time to do it! The recipe for a lunchtime server is: a dollop of good manners, a splash of good hygiene with a sprinkling of patience!

For health and safety reasons, applicants for the lunchtime server job must be tall enough to comfortably and safely reach over the serving bar.

Lunchtime Supervisor (2 jobs available)Lunchtime only

The role of the lunchtime supervisor needs someone who is observant and knows the school rules. The successful applicant will need to be a good listener, fair and willing to help think of solutions to any problems that may arise. You will need to be punctual to make sure that;classes are collected on time; every child gets to the dinner hall in time to eat their lunch and children are ready to return to their classrooms by 1:00pm.

-ensure the children’s safety at all times

-collect a class at the beginning of lunchtime (from their

classroom)

-ensure that classes are taken to the dinner hall on time

-problem solve any misunderstandings between friends

-encourage children to play games or use the equipment
