Proposed Dornell Wind Farm

Dear Sir / Madam,

I am writing to you as secretary of the Cabrach Community Association to express our support for the proposed Dornell wind farm and to ask that the Scottish Goverment support the project subject to conditions to ensure the commitments given by Infinergy are met.

Cabrach is one of if not the closest communities to the wind farm site and therefore will inevitably be most affected. We have carefully considered all aspects of Infinergy’s proposal and have come to the conclusion that the wind farm will bring a wide range of benefits – globally, Scotland wide and most importantly to our local community.

Globally we are concerned to help in the fight to combat climate change and see the development of the Dornell wind farm as a major contribution on our part.

At a national level we firmly believe that the renewable sector will keep Scotland ahead of schedule for renewables and bring numerous economic and job opportunities. Wind farm developments such as Dornell offer the opportunity for our country to develop into world leaders in renewable technology.

Finally, but by no means least, the Dornell wind farm offers our Cabrach community the chance for much needed growth and regeneration. For many years our community has been in decline. Just one result of this is that the Cabrach primary school looks set to close because of a decline in numbers.

We the Cabrach Community Association believe that the Dornell wind farm in association with Infinergy would result in a significant regeneration of the Cabrach and surrounding areas. An instance is in a promised initiative through housing, associated walking core paths and tourism opportunities.

We ask that the Scottish Government endorse Infinergy’s proposals subject to terms and conditions of granting consent.

Yours sincerely

Martin Sheed
