The Seventh International Workshop on Biological Control and Management of Chromolaena odorata and Mikania micrantha will be held at the National Pingtung University of Science and Technology, Pingtung, Taiwan, Republic of China. The purpose of this workshop is to facilitate dissemination of information on the management and control of Chromolaena and Mikania, to identify areas in which new research is needed, and to foster global cooperation on managing and controlling these weeds.
Both C. odorata and M. micrantha are neotropical plants that have become invasive weeds in the Old World. They invade pastures, vacant lands, roadsides, plantation crops, disturbed forests and wildlife reserves. They suppress local fauna, restrict wildlife movement, interfere in cultivation and reduce biodiversity.
