Girls Tennis
Coach Jaime Kettel
2018 Ridgeview Junior High Girls Tennis
Coach
My name is Jaime Kettel and I am once again the girls’ tennis coach this year. I also coach the boys’
Ridgeview tennis team in the spring. I played two years of tennis at Pickerington Junior High, four years of tennis
at Pickerington High School and four years of tennis at Ohio Dominican University where I was Academic All-
American my junior and senior year. I also taught for five years at a Nike Tennis Camp at Denison University in
Granville, Ohio. So, needless to say I love tennis and know quite a bit about the game. Due to my coaching at the
Nike tennis camp I put a lot of emphasis on skills and my players improving and becoming more of a complete
player. While all tennis players and coaches want to win (and I am no exception) my main concern is that my
players are trying their hardest, improving their game, and having fun.
I am looking forward to a great season. The only things I ask of the girls is that they have an open mind
and try the things I suggest, they try their hardest both at practice and in matches, they keep their grades up, display
exceptional behavior, and they have fun. If there are any questions or concerns please feel free to have your
daughter contact me, my cell phone is 614-353-1912 and my e-mail is .
Other Information
1 If your daughter is not going to be at a practice or match please have her let me know as soon as possible, but
definitely prior to the match or practice. I am responsible for the girls during practice and match time unless I have
a note or receive a phone call, so it is VERY important that I be notified if an athlete will not be at a practice or
match.
2 Physicals must be submitted in order for your daughter to participate. You must register your daughter on the
8 to 18 website.
3 Athletic participation fees must be paid in order for your daughter to participate. Also, please note that pay to
play fees only ensure playing for practice. There are seven positions that count for the team score and while we do
keep extra players, they will play exhibition matches.
4 Every Sunday night I will e-mail a schedule for the week. I will also notify you of any changes as soon as they
are made available to me. Since match and practice times do change, I do not give a schedule other than matches
for the whole season. ASAP – send me an e-mail to with the following
information:
Athlete’s name
Parent’s names
E-mail where you want schedules and any updates sent
Phone number where I can call if need be
5 Also, this year I will be using a program called Remind to send out any last minute changes due to weather or
other conflict. This program allows me to send one text message out and it goes to everyone who registers, not
only will this help me save time, it will also get the information to everyone quicker. The way it works is, ASAP
you will need to text @9dage2 to the number 81010. Then you will get a text asking for your full
name. You can register as many people as you want (mom, dad, athlete, anyone else helping with
transportation of the athlete). The program keeps all of the numbers in a list (I do not see the numbers, just
the name) and if I need to send out information it will come directly to the phone numbers registered. Please do not
send texts back to this number. If you need to text me you can text me on my cell phone number.
I am looking forward to a great season! All I ask is that the girls listen to what any of the Pickerington coaches tell
them, show respect for all coaches and athletes, and try their hardest anytime they are on the court.
Thanks,
Jaime
