A RESOLUTION adjourning the Senate in loving memory and honor of Phillip Dean Damron.
With deepest respect and admiration, we pay homage and tribute to Phillip Dean Damron, and we pause in silent reverence for his soul.
WHEREAS, Phillip Dean Damron was born on July 22, 1947, a native of Pikeville, Pike County, Kentucky, and longtime resident of Prestonsburg, Floyd County, Kentucky, and he traversed these earthly bounds on March 28, 2002; and
WHEREAS, Phillip Dean Damron was the loving son of the late Atha and Ola Mae Hall Damron, and he was also preceded in death by a loving brother, Gary Damron; he was the devoted husband of Martha A. Damron, he was the loving father of a son, Aaron A. Damron of Prestonsburg, and two daughters, Emily Damron of Lexington and Margaret Ray Damron of Prestonsburg, and he is also survived by two loving brothers, Jeff Damron of Prestonsburg and Steve Damron of Weeksbury; and
WHEREAS, Phillip Dean Damron graduated from the University of Kentucky and the University of Kentucky College of Law, and he served his country with pride and honor in the United States Army Reserves; and
WHEREAS, Phillip Dean Damron was an esteemed member of the Floyd County community, and at the time of his passing, he was an assistant Floyd County attorney; he was the former attorney for Highlands Regional Medical Center in Prestonsburg when the hospital was established, and he also was a former attorney for the Floyd County school board; and
WHEREAS, Phillip Dean Damron was an active and involved citizen, and a former member of the Kentucky State Racing Commission, Prestonsburg City Utilities Commission, and the Mountain Comprehensive Care Center board in Prestonsburg; he was a former assistant coach of the Prestonsburg High School girls' softball team, and a former Scout master for the Boy Scouts of America; and
WHEREAS, Phillip Dean Damron was a Mason and Shriner, and a devout member of Prestonsburg First United Methodist Church where his services were held on March 30, 2002; and
WHEREAS, the passing of Phillip Dean Damron has left a void that cannot be filled, and he is mourned across the length and breadth of the Commonwealth;
NOW, THEREFORE,
Be it resolved by the Senate of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky:

Section 1. The Senate does hereby express its profound sense of sorrow upon the passing of Phillip Dean Damron, and extends to his family and friends its most heartfelt sympathy.
Section 2. When the Senate adjourns this day, it does so in loving memory and honor of Phillip Dean Damron.
Section 3. The Clerk of the Senate is hereby directed to transmit a copy of this Resolution to Mrs. Martha A. Damron, 489 North Arnold Avenue, Prestonsburg, Kentucky 41653.
