Minuets:
1st, bring up of topic of academic projects and their funding. Michelle bartlet in labs feels the work load is just to much to handle.
*idea concerning what exactly what our role is as the clean energy committee,
In original document there is no part detailing that we should push to have our projects have a academic part.
- no mention of supporting academics
- Says specifically student clean energy projects
Academics is resisting facilitating the funding distribution.
Lorie Morre and Sarah Peterson tom will meet with on Thursday concerning.
Maybe should make a threshold that we work with so as not to overwhelm Michelle
Kevin- food guide proposal
Looking to organize and concentrate and guide showing how to be able to make good choices concerning sustainable, affordable healthy foods. This information would be in pamphlet form with a map included in the pamphlet.
Working with RAD to get this information distributed with new students arriving this fall. Would help freshmen get a jumpstart on becoming more sustainable.
Ideas from us
Make website
Distribute handbills
Have one pamphlet per dorm cluster
Have posters instead of pamphlets
Is working with the actual groups or organization to have them write their own literature for themselves.
Will have something small put together to show case the basic information, including posters for maps
Draft document
Further discussion of a web link
A detailed plan for talking with the freshmen
Targeting the focus
Durability of the message
Efficacy
Tabled until we have further information concerning funding.
Genevieve – additional expenses for child care center forest garden
Decided to add a work party day, had four and is now adding a fifth for the synergy conference
Currently there is a lot of scotch broom, during the synergy fair the work party will try and get all that broom out and replant with praire kind of idea. Clover and other plants similar. Know of a person working in the nature concervency to get these native plants in this area.
Ended up paying a little more, maybe a 100 more out of pocket, for more plants.
In addition working with Michal of tera commons to build a trellis for a gate to let kids and adults in and out. Possibly have honeysuckle running up the trellis
Gen is graduation very soon and is concerned with the upkeep of this new garden and looking to get money for a sort of stipend to keep the energy up for the project.
Will be a better more diverse garden if we would be able to fund the 360 for matainance coordinator for a year. The more attention is needed to keep this growing, needs weeding regularly. Sense of community staying intact.
The garden is a 30 feet diameter circle, with one gate
Questions
Funding the coordinator, needs to have a supervisor. Not casey.
Working with a student group to help organize the up keep of the garden
Gen is talking with Abby to help with the up keep of the garden
Talking with Mark Lassino about the project
The issue of the 100 dollar reimbersment came up. Also the issue of working with getting more funding through finances and their offices. But is not with Michelle, its with Lisa something.
Moved to fund the 230 for goods along with an additional 100 for reimbursement. Totaling 330
Approved
Kelly Luke Monaghan – digester
Not even being considered at the moment
Student green energy association – update
Basically not going to ask for funding for the quarter.
Continue getting academic support and continue working until the next bi anium so that they can work more the college
They would like to add their ideas into the master plan in the future for the farm
Three out of the four students at this meeting are working on this as part of an academic contract.
Will expect to see these folks possibly in the spring. Maybe………. Clean energy fair……..
Workshop for synergy????????? They have no idea what this is, but are willing????????
And then they left.
Legislators helping by matching funding for
There is going to be the vote this quarter, do we have anything for the vote.
Possible revise our mission statement
Dani could possibly write up a revision for us to review?
Decided not to do it this quarter and to wait for this fall when there will be another election.
Next issue, there is 10% of our funding that is specifically for student projects.
Bike thefts are then brought up, are we willing to fund some countermeasures to keep these bikes getting stolen. Is there anything that we could fund that would help this issue. The committee’s response is that we need to be more focused and this issue is not exactly in conjunction with our purpose. Scott says to get rid of the fluff.
Need new model or check list of what we require before we will even look at any proposal. Needs to be clear cut and to our standards.
Tables for clean energy fair, we need tables and will go through tom.
Will more than likely have them drop off tables and then we set them up ourselves.
Will have a meeting before synergy, possibly the week before synergy may 10th ish.
Solar endowment group?
They are asking for people to invest in their endowment to build solar systems, then whoever invested in that project now owns part of that installation. These folks would like to meet and speak with us. Advisable for the committee to look into other sources. Changing our source of energy wouldn’t be in conflict with our mission statement and this would be ok.
Biomass meeting is coming up soon, april 26th
Everyone is interested in the solar people
