Up until now it has been an exiting year with lots of activities. We believe that our society will continue to excel and we are exited about all that has been achieved.

Please take note of the following points and respond were necessary.

1.  Membership fee

Membership fees are due on or before the 31st of May 2011. If you manage to pay on or before the due date you can benefit form the early bird fee. Should you fail to do so; the late payment prices will be applicable.

For your convenience you will find the “Annual Membership Fee” form attached. Please complete and fax or mail the form and your proof of payment to the treasurer (Anna-Mart Kruger, , (064) 206 749)

2.  VAT

Services provided by physiotherapists are currently zero-rated supplies. A zero-rated supply is a taxable supply in terms of the Value-Added Tax Act and a person has to register for VAT if the person earns taxable supplies in excess of N$ 200 000 in a 12 month period.

3.  PSEMAS

The Tariffs Committee met with PSEMAS to discuss the 2011 tariffs. In 2010 the proposed budget, as prepared by PSEMAS, was given to the Minister of Finance but did not receive any attention and was not discussed at all. The proposed budget for 2010 was NAMAF tariffs for 2010 less 10%. In 2011 a budget was again given to the Minister of Finance. The proposed budget was NAMAF tariffs as for 2011. Response form the Minister is still awaited.

PSEMAS did not pay out claims below N$ 2000. The problems involved with this system were explained and the N$ 2000 limit was lifted. All claims should be paid out. Should members still have trouble with this, Birte Burmeister or Erika Brand should be notified.

8.  Medical Disability Advisor (MDA)

The MVA Fund informed the NSP that they implemented the Medical Disability Advisor system. It is a licence based tool that the MVA Fund uses to equip the case coordinators and case managers with medical knowledge regarding the rehabilitation process, treatment durations and expectations for a specific injury.

Please note that this is only a guideline the case managers use to base their decisions on. Should you be contacted by any of these managers in connection with the number treatment sessions for a specific condition it is still negotiable, but you may have to motivate the need for more treatment sessions.
