ABC Book Info Sheet with Rubric - If your novel had an ABC Book, what would each letter of the alphabet represent? Why? Here is your opportunity to express your creativity in combining the novel with your artistic expertise.

Requirements and Guidelines:

·  Cover: Your ABC book should have a cover, which contains your novel’s title, author, illustrations or visuals relating to the book, and your name. The cover and pages need to be at least 8” in width and 8” in height. Failure to meet this requirement is a 10 point deduction.

·  Binding: Your final product, consisting of your original cover and pages, needs to be bound whether in a notebook, scrapbook, etc. Remember the binding needs to look professional and of test quality. If the binding looks unprofessional or not of test quality (for example no cover and just stapling the pages a folder, or a clear sleeves for papers), you will receive a minimum of 10 points off.

·  Each Page: you will have 1 letter per page. You are to have a page for every letter of the alphabet with the exception of 2 letters - “X” and “Z”. You do not have to have a page for “X” or “Z”. Each page should have:

o  A letter prominently displayed.

o  A word that the letter begins with from your novel.

o  A quote with that word.

o  An idea/explanation from your novel about the quote and letter that you selected.

o  At least 2 visuals.

·  Suggestions from Last Year’s Students: Use scrapbook colored paper to make your page’s pop. Then, you can cut out your text and pictures, and it will give your book a variety of backgrounds. Do not use PowerPoint because your pages can become monotonous with the format. Whatever you do, don’t procrastinate! Don’t buy one of those gigantic scrapbooks because the pages take so much more stuff to fill up a page. Go with a smaller scrapbook. Don’t use glue sticks. Glue sticks can wrinkle paper and seep through the pages. Use rubber cement, instead. Cheaper and easier to work with! Also, count the # of pages in the book before you begin to make sure that the book that you are purchasing has enough pages for your letters.

·  I will take up to 5 points off for grammatical errors, so please proof your work.

·  There is a 24 page minimum for the ABC Book. Failure to meet the page minimum is at least a 10 point deduction.

·  Grading: The ABC book will count as your midterm exam grade, so it needs to reflect English 2 midterm exam quality. During your midterm exam time, you and your peers will do a Gallery Tour of your projects.

·  Due Dates - The due dates for the project are 12/7/15 (A-Day) and 12/8/15 (B-Day). There will be a 10 point deduction per day late.

·  The rubric needs to be turned in with the project. I will NOT accept the project without a signed rubric.
