Symbol of Freedom Flag Program

Dear Old North EndNeighbor,
The North Colorado Springs Rotary Club Foundation and local Boy Scout Troop 21 (meeting at Corpus Christi Church) invite you to join your friends and neighbors in displaying the American Flag, our symbol of freedom, on 5 days each year, consisting of: Memorial Day, Flag Day, Independence Day, Labor Day and Veteran’s Day. On these days, Scouts will place a large 3’ x 5’ flag on a 10’ pole near the sidewalk in front of your home in the morning and remove it in the evening.
We hope you are familiar with the Symbol of Freedom Flag Program currently starting its tenth year. We would like to extend an invitation to join (or to continue to support) your neighbors in showing your patriotism while at the same time making a donation that will benefit two worthy organizations.
The proceeds of this program are split between the Boy Scout Troop 21 and the North Colorado Springs Rotary Club Foundation (NCSRCF), a 501(c) (3), tax-exempt public charity. The NCSRCFutilizes the funds from this program to support its humanitarian projects that address the issues of education and poverty for those in need locally and internationally. In addition, NCSRCF supports other local youth related programs and charitable organizations.The Foundation has underwritten a two-day Ethics Training Seminar for the freshman class at Doherty High School for the last eight years. To date, we have provided this training to more than 4,500 students. We look forward to expanding this program to other area high schools.

Service begins on Memorial Day, May 28th. If you are a new subscriber, please allow two weeks for Rotary members, working through the UtilityNotificationCenter, to install a discrete PVC plastic sleeve and cap near the sidewalk. (Please act now as coordinating this installation takes time and all work is done by volunteers.)
