Chamber Scholarship Application & Information

The Newport County Chamber of Commerce’s non-profit organization, the Newport County Development Council (NCDC) is pleased to offer scholarships to children or grandchildren of Newport County Chamber members and their employees who are graduating from public or private high schools. The two scholarships, each in the amount of $500, will be awarded on the basis of academic achievement, community involvement, and the quality of letter of request from the applicant.

To be eligible for scholarship consideration, applicants must submit the completed application no later than 5 p.m. on Friday, April 29, 2016. Applicants must also include at least one letter of reference. Each scholarship application must include:

· Completed application form with parent/guardian signature

· Cover Letter

· School transcripts

· Letter of reference

Chamber Mission Statement

The Newport County Development Council is a non-profit organization governed by the Newport County Chamber of Commerce’s Executive Committee. The Chamber of Commerce is an association of businesses and organizations formed to enhance the civic and economic vitality of Newport County. The Chamber’s primary mission is to promote a healthy economic climate of goods, jobs, capital creation, and honest, responsive government. Statement of Purpose

The Newport County Development Council is offering scholarships to children or grandchildren of the Newport County Chamber members and their employees graduating from any public or private high school each spring. Two scholarships are available for selected students in the amount of $500.00 each. The scholarship will be awarded based on academic achievement, community involvement, and the quality of letter of request by applicant.

Award Committee

The Scholarship Committee consists of members of the Chamber’s Ambassador Committee, Chamber Board of Directors, Chamber staff, and the Executive Director.

Time Frame

Applications are available at the Chamber office after February 5, 2016 or online at www.newportchamber.com.

Submission Deadline

Completed applications are due at the Chamber office no later than 5:00 p.m. on Friday, April 29, 2016.

Award Announcement

The Chamber shall announce the awards no later than Friday May 27, 2016.
