Whilst it is not compulsory that this section is completed, the following paragraph explains why it is important.
Sport can and does play a major role in promoting the inclusion of all groups in society. However, inequalities have traditionally existed within sport, particularly in relation to gender, race and disability. Sport England is committed to promoting and developing sports equity, which is about fairness in sport, equality of access, recognising inequalities and taking steps to address them. By monitoring the profile of young people in sports clubs, national governing bodies of sport and Sport England can identify any issues relating to under-representation of different groups and can together develop strategies to ensure that all young people have the opportunity in the future to develop and progress in sport.

Section 8 – Consent to Play Senior Fixtures and Changing Room Policy
For players under the age of 18 playing in adult teams the following policy applies:
Young players uncomfortable with changing or showering with adults are under no obligation to do so and are advised to change and shower at home. Additionally, RGCC shall not permit mobile phones to be switched on or used, whilst junior cricket members are involved or using the changing room facilities.
Parental consent must be given if Young Players are to share changing facilities with adults
If Young Players are sharing changing facilities with adults, parents have the option to supervise them whilst they are changing. The Club will make reasonable efforts to arrange this.
Changing Room Policy Consent by Parent / Legal Guardian - Please tick the appropriate box
Under the above terms and conditions and I confirm that I have legal responsibility for this young person and am entitled to give this consent. I also confirm that I understand and accept the Club’s policy on transportation. If this young player participates in adult cricket
□he/she will change at home □ he/she can change at the club □ he/she can only change under supervision
The ECB has issued the following guidance covering the participation of young cricketers in adult matches. This guidance applies to boys and girls. RGCC recognise that we have a duty of care towards all young players who are representing the club. This duty of care also extends to Leagues that allow the participation of young players in adult teams in their League.
In addition the following specific requirements apply to young players in adult matches:
- All young players who have not reached their 18th birthday must wear a helmet with a faceguard when batting and when standing up to the stumps when keeping wicket. Parental consent not to wear a helmet will not be accepted in adult matches. A young player acting as a runner must also wear a helmet even if the player he is running for is not doing so.
- The current ECB fielding regulations will be adhered to and enforced by the umpires and captain. The umpires are empowered by these fielding regulations to stop the game immediately if a young player comes within the restricted distance.
- The umpires and the opposing captain must be notified of the age group of all players participating in an adult match who are in the Under 19 age group or younger even if the player is not a fast bowler. This requirement also covers any young player taking the field as a substitute fielder. The ECB Team Sheet cards are freely available to facilitate this.
- Players who are selected in a County U12 squad inspring for a summer squad or in another squaddeemed by ECB Performance Managers to be of astandard above ‘district level’ for that season areeligible to play open age cricket. This is providingthey are at least 11 years old, are in School Year 7 on1st September in the year preceding the season, andhave written parental consent to play. In allowingthese players to play in open age cricket it isessential clubs and coaches recognise the ‘duty ofcare’ obligations they have towards these youngplayersThis means boys and girls who are county squad andarea squad players, are able to play open age groupcricket if they are in an U12 age group and are aminimum of 11 years old on 1st September of the yearpreceding the season. District and club players who arenot in a county or area squads must wait until they reachthe U13 age group, be in Year 8 and be 12 years old on1st September of the preceding year before being ableto play in any open age group cricket. As before writtenparental consent is required for these players.Clubs must ensure that their player registration procedures ensure that consent is obtained. The guidance related to changing and showering (see ‘Safe Hands - Cricket’s Policy for Safeguarding Children’) must be adhered to. No children Under 12 shall be allowed to participate in adult cricket.
- No young player in the Under 15 age group or younger shall be allowed to field closer than 8 yards (7.3 metres) from the middle stump, except behind the wicket on the off side, until the batsman has played at the ball.
- For players in the Under 13 age group and below the distance is 11 yards (10 metres).
- These minimum distances apply even if the player is wearing a helmet.
- Should a young player in these age groups come within the restricted distance the umpire must stop the game immediately and instruct the fielder to move back?
- In addition any young player in the Under 16 to Under 18 age groups, who has not reached the age of 18, must wear a helmet and, for boys, an abdominal protector (box) when fielding within 6 yards (5.5 metres) of the bat, except behind the wicket on the off side. Players should wear appropriate protective equipment whenever they are fielding in a position where they feel at risk.
- These fielding regulations are applicable to all cricket in England and Wales.
As the parent / guardian I permit him / her to take part in senior cricket matches, if / when selected, on behalf of Roe Green Cricket Club, and will ensure that he / she wears the appropriate protective equipment.
