New Shear Celle with Small Specimen Volume for Ring Shear Tester RST-XS
The Ring Shear Tester RST-XS is an easy-to-operate tester for the precise determination of the flow properties of fine-grained powders and bulk solids. The new shear cell type XS-SV3 requires a specimen volume of only about 3.5 ml. Thus, the new shear cell increases the range of available shear cells (up to 70 ml) to lower specimen volumes. With the new shear cell the RST-XS becomes still more valuable for situations where only very small amounts of powder are available for testing, e.g. the pharmaceutical industry, food industry, chemical industry and many others.

The Ring Shear Tester RST-XS provides automatic, computer-controlled measurement of the flow properties (e.g. flowability, time consolidation and caking, bulk density) of powders and other bulk solid materials, under conditions which duplicate handling situations. Such properties are useful e.g. for product development, quality control, comparative tests, and silo design.
The Ring Shear Tester RST-XS is controlled by a PC running control software RST-CONTROL 95. The software provides several test modes. Besides properties of the powder itself, also wall friction can be measured, i.e., friction between a powder and a solid surface (e.g., the wall material of a hopper). Further options are compressibility tests and the assistance of attrition tests. The software package additionally contains the program RSV 95 for detailed analysis of test data and for presentation of results, e.g. as diagram, table or report, with the possibility to export the data/diagrams to other applications (e.g. word processor, spreadsheet).
