PASTOR SEARCH COMMITTEE
COVENANT OF AGREEMENTS WITH THE CHURCH AND ONE ANOTHER
As a member of the Pastor Search Committee of ______BaptistChurch of ______, I gladly covenant to participate in the work of the committee according to the following agreements.
COVENANT OF ORGANIZATION: The chair of the committee will be elected by the full committee with each person on the committee present for the vote. The chair of the search committee will meet monthly with the chairman of the Pastoral Transition Team and the Chairman of Deacons.
The Search Committee Chairman will report to the Church when advised by the two above mentioned chairman, with either a written notice in the Church mail-out to members or a verbal report in the morning worship services. This is to keep the Church informed to the progress of the Search Committee. (1 Cor.14:40)
COVENANT OF ETHICAL BEHAVIOR: I agree to relate to each member in a manner consistent with the ethical standards characterized by Jesus Christ. (Phil.2:4-8),
COVENANT OF SPIRITUAL PREPARATION: I agree to make Bible study and prayer an ongoing priority in my life. (John 8:31-32).
COVENANT OF PRAYER: I agree to pray daily for each committee member and for the work of the church. (Luke 18:1).
COVENANT OF UNITY: I agree to work in unity, not regarding myself as of more value than others, “endeavoring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace” (Eph. 4:3).
COVENANT OF HONESTY AND OPENESS: I agree to be honest and open with others on the committee, always seeking the guidance of the Holy Spirit so the fruit of the Spirit identified in Galatians 5:22-23 will characterize my participation in the committee. (Eph. 5:9).
COVENANT OF FAITHFULNESS: I agree to remain faithful to the church and it’s ministries so church members will continue to have confidence in the committee and so I can effectively and honestly portray the work of the church to prospective pastors being considered by the committee.
COVENANT OF CONFIDENTIALITY: I agree to refrain from discussing with persons outside the committee information shared in committee meetings unless it is agreed by the committee on when and where to release information to other church members, including members of my family.
I agree that no member of the committee will contact any prospective pastor without the permission and assignment of the full committee. I agree that I will enter this Holy Commission without any preconceived commitments to who should be our pastor but will rely upon the Holy Spirit to lead this committee to God’s man in total and complete reliance upon Him.
