Call Alley's Tree Removal at 467-6407. They did an excellent job at our house. He shows up and does an assessment and gives you an estimate. Then comes back with a big crew. They cleaned up and were out of here in no time.

I recommend Cost Crusher, 646-4266. They also grind the stump. I think they are the most cost effective co I have talked to. Ginny Bloom virginia bloom [
Cutting Edge Tree Service took down 4 large trees (including grinding the stumps) at one of my apartment buildings in Norfolk. They did a great job, including cleanup and were very reasonably priced.
You can tell them Laura Watrous referred you if you call. Laura Watrous [

We used a great company called Grigg Bothers Tree Service, Inc. A tree of ours fell into our neighbor's yard the day before Thanksgiving and these guys came over last minute, despite the holiday, and worked into the night. Very polite, professional and careful. They cleaned up well too.
They're fully licensed and insured (although I didn't check that out). Their number is 563-9025.

Hi Sandy,
Donna Barcus here. Unfortunately; I can not
recommend to you any good tree removal person/company.
When you are interviewing individuals for the job; I would get atleast5 estimates and prepare yourself a "check-off" list of questions to ask during this interview. Also; it is important to ask how many years they have been in business and ask for a list of past jobs they have done in the last 2-5 years. Once you have completed all of your interviews;it has been my past experience with any jobI wasseeking a contractor to do work at my home that I would eliminate atleast 1-2 of the contractors not because of the quote he offered, but because there was "just" something I just did not likeduring the interview. Now you are down to 3-4 quotes; I would not takethe cheapest quote and I would not don't take the most expensive quote, I would hire the contractor that offered mea middle of the line quote.
Also; this is very important to remember, don't let any of these contractors tell you that you must pay the entire money that you had agreeded upon at the signing of the contract; prior to them even starting the job. Depending upon the size and cost of the job; most (not all) require that you pay atleast half or one third of what you agreeded upon; prior to starting the job. If you are paying half, the other half is due naturally when the job is completed. If you have paid one third, the 2nd one-third is most likely due at approximately the half-way mark, then the last one-third is due when the job is completed. Also; it is important to add to your check-off list that they remove all debris from your property. When they have indicated to you that the job is completed, what you need to do is verify with walking on your property and if they have not removed all debris, indicate to them your concernsand don't pay until they have completely removed all debris from your property as they want that last final payment.
Also; when you are finally getting the tree removed, some people don't think about how close to the ground they want the treecut. Some people use the tree stump as a decoration and "only" wanting so much of the tree stump left exposed. Then some people want the tree cut as close to the ground as it is possible. And if you are wanting the tree cut as close to the ground as it is possible or if you are wanting so-much of the tree stump standing as a decoration, make sure as it is very important that you go over and verify these last minute details prior to signing the contract.
Also; I personally would be on my property during the entire completion of the job.
Here is a good question you might want to consider asking these contractors when you are getting estimates. Ask them "why" you should consider them for the job and not their competition. Also; let them know you are getting bids for the job.
I wish you success.
Sincerely,
Donna Barcus
