Three new board members at Brodhead Watershed Association

The Brodhead Watershed Association has added three more board members, President Rob Sedwin announced this week.

Chris Perry

Chris Perry, a Streamwatcher in Price Township, was elected to the board at the annual meeting and Fall Luncheon on October 2. Chris is an avid hiker and kayaker.She volunteers at Promised Land State Park, leading hikes and assisting with tree planting, and at Delaware Water Gap NRA where she is a water safety ambassador.Chris and her partner Geri Daley have already pitched in on BWA projects - helping with the Native Plant Sale in May and the Pocono Creek Clean-up in September and running the very successful Silent Auction and raffles for the Fall Luncheon Oct 2.Chris is committed to improving our environment for future generations.

Ellen Davis

Ellen Davis, one of the newer board members and stream watch coordinator, is a Monroe County native having lived her childhood in Tunkhannock Twp. Her education started at Cold Spring School at Long Pond & continued thru graduation from the Pocono Mountain School District. She is a licensed practical nurse & had worked at the Pocono Medical Center in the late '60's plus worked 18 years with the Monroe County Environmental Center staff educating school students thru outdoor programs. These days Ellen leads "The Tuesday Hiking Gang" & is active with St. Paul's United Church in Swiftwater and also with the Pike Monroe Woodland Owners' Group. Last year she completed the PennState Forest Steward training program. She is married to another Monroe County native, Skip Davis. They live in Paradise Twp.

Bill Watson

Bill Watson of Jackson Township now has responsibility for the organization’s newsletter and other communications. Watson, 62, is a former journalist with extensive experience in environmental issues, including investigative journalism in the field. He is a former member of Environmental Commission of Dennis Township, N.J., his hometown, and was a charter member of the Society of Environmental Journalists. He has won awards for environmental reporting. He lives in a rhododendron thicket in Jackson Township with his wife, Sheree, who is publications manager for East Stroudsburg University’s Office of University Relations; his youngest son, Lucas, a music education major at Indiana University of Pennsylvania.

The Brodhead Watershed Association is a non-profit environmental organization formed in 1989. BWA is dedicated to protecting and preserving water resources and the environment of the Brodhead watershed and the water quality of the Brodhead, Cherry, Marshalls, McMichael, Paradise and Pocono creeks and their tributaries. In addition, the BWA assists municipalities, residents, businesses and groups with protecting natural resources through education, workshops, seminars, public programs and stream monitoring.
