Rotary Scholarship Foundation

The Rotary Scholarship Foundation is proud to provide scholarships for selected students of Big Bend Community College continuing their education toward a BA degree or Vocational Certification. There are three types of scholarships available. When you complete the application please indicate which scholarship(s) apply to your career choice.

*Rotary Scholarship: May be used at any accredited trade school or institution of higher learning to further your education in any career choice. (See note under eligibility requirement A)

*Harold Tracy Memorial Scholarship: May be used for anyone selecting a vocation in the area of Health care. (See note under eligibility requirement A)

**Del Millholland Memorial Scholarship: May be used in conjunction with the Rotary Scholarship for anyone selecting teaching as a vocation. (See eligibility requirement E)

To be eligible one must:

A.  Have earned an Associate of Arts or Applied Science Degree from Big Bend Community College;

*This requirement does not apply to those seeking the Harold Tracy Memorial Scholarship or the Rotary Scholarship if choosing an accredited trade school.

B. Have graduated from any high school in the Big Bend service district (Grant and Adams Counties plus the Odessa school district). A GED from these schools or BBCC is acceptable;

C.  Have a minimum G.P.A. (cumulative) of 2.50 from institution of higher

Learning;

D.  Not be the direct lineal descent of a member of a Rotary Club.

E.**Applicants interested in the Del Millholland Scholarship must include a one page statement explaining why they want to be a teacher.

Scholarships will be awarded in November, 2013. Applications need to be submitted by noon on October 31, 2013.

Successful candidates will be notified as to the process for receiving the funds and for re-application in subsequent years.

Your typed application package must include the following:

1.  The application form.

2.  An unofficial transcript from your current College or University.

3.  Applicants for the Del Milholland Memorial Scholarship will include a letter stating why they want to be a teacher in addition to the items listed above.
